Technology plays a huge role in society in the present world, and it’s gotten this way through everything that has been invented with things such as the printing press or gunpowder. They bring very big changes to the way people live their lives in the world, and makes it easier to live. Both the printing press and gunpowder were huge steps in the world of technology. In Europe during the medieval times, everything had to be written by hand without a choice of being able to type. At this time of struggle, Johannes Gutenberg was the person who developed the Printing Press in Europe, which had a huge impact on society and the way people could do things differently. There was a ton of interest in it because people found it to be so neat and it became widely used through Europe, and it even spread farther than that until it became international.
For example, making and writing a book would take much less time, because it had to be done by hand before the invention of the printing press. This would also decrease the amount of the money for the books because of how popular they would become. From this, there were also less illiterate people because there were more people who learned how to read because of the printing press and how much easier it was to make books for people to buy because it could be printed over and over. This also had a great cause on religious influences, because people were able to print out books such as the Bible or other belief books. This worked very well for the Protestants and other Christian belief systems because they were able to use the printing press to get their ideas out there to the people who were interested.
The Chinese, the Song Dynasty to be exact, in the 11th century, invented gunpowder, which was another huge step for inventors, and also the development of war. It was used for both guns and cannons, and the gunpowder made both of them work much more effectively than the weapons that

The effects that it had on learning helped make a way for English translations of the Bible because people began to have a desire to learn to read. Before this time, most all books, including the Bible, were written in either Latin or Greek, therefore the common people couldn't read them. Also, the very few books that were in English were handwritten and very costly so they were inaccessible to the common man. In 1475, the introduction of movable type brought in this new era. Now books could be printed and were not as costly. This brought about more books being translated and written in English. There was now a new emphasis on education and the availability of books had grown tremendously. Soon, more and more people were getting an education. Now, most of the people, including the common man, were become literate rather then illiterate. Education began to blossom into a necessity that would change the world for the better.…

The invention of writing changed the way we communicate, and the world. Many things would not have happened if writing was not invented. Learning about ancient civilizations would be a lot harder, and the bible wouldn't even have been written! For example, How Writing Changed the World states, “There are many things that would never have happened if writing wouldn’t have been invented.” So if Mesopotamia had never invented cuneiform, then a lot of important historical events or learning about them would be a lot harder. Furthermore, How Writing Changed the World states, “If writing wouldn’t have been invented…the Cuneiform writing Declaration of Independence...would never have been written.”…

Although the reformation was important to the printing presses success, I believe that exploration was more important. For example, Christopher Columbus would have never discovered the Americas if he had not explored the ocean. The creation and use of the printing press was important to the maps success. The printing press allowed for maps to be mass produced. These maps were then distributed all over Europe. New explorers saw and bought the maps and then went exploring and found new lands. They would then add the information that they discovered to revise and reprint a new map. Exploration also helped the spread of geological knowledge that might not have been spread otherwise. If explorers continued to only explore Europe and Africa they…

Early on, the Chinese realized that gunpowder could be used as a weapon, but didn’t realize its true potential. They first used it to start fires, and to blind, burn, and poison victims. Later on they modified the fireworks and made what were the first flame throwers. These were used during the Sung dynasty against the Mongols. It was an arrow that was attached to a tube of gunpowder that was ignited and it was propelled across enemy lines. The Chinese continued to develop their weapons to fight the Mongols and even made the first cannons and grenades. These weapons probably helped the Chinese win many battles against the…
