Being An American
To be an American to me means that we are free and are so fortunate to even have many of things that we actually have. We are fortunate to have a government where they look out for every one of us, and try to do what is in the best interest of our country. Being an American is awesome because we have a society that is willing to help people who are not as fortunate as some of the others. America is willing to help us and let us make our own choices, choose members of our own government that is going to protect us, and coming together with other citizens to help out others and our country. Being an American, means freedom of speech, having a job, donation, too involved in technology and watching football games on Sunday nights The Americans are too involved in today’s technology and television. When we look at a regular American family every person of the family have their own screens and displays. And when they are sitting together in a couch they are physical sitting together but their minds are in different world. Dad is watching football game on TV, Son and Daughter texting and chatting with their smart phones and mom is shopping online on her tablet. Marie winn in the essay “television: The Plug- In Drug” says, “twenty or so years later mom would be watching a drama in the kitchen the kids would be looking at cartoons in their room, while Dad would be taking in the ball game in the living room ?”(439). What Winn is saying here is true; we see the major effect of technology in our lives. The only time that we are not using technology is when we are asleep. We use technology for different purpose in daily life. We use to communicate with people, we use it for entertainment and we use it to make relationships.
