‘I was going to graduate, but...’ In 2011, about 68.3% of students who graduated high school enrolled in college. About 40 % actually graduated within four years. Why is that? In most colleges, parties are a huge reason for the fact that the students stay out really late then have the issue of getting up in the morning. Others it’s just the cost to attend and there over all classes. College graduation rates are too low due to students not being able to afford tuition, not being properly prepared in high school, and not being able to balance social life and study time. College tuitions are very expensive, the top two expensive U.S. colleges, Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville N.Y. costing over $61,236 which includes tuition, room, board and other required fees. The next leading is New York University which is a private university costing 59,837 for tuition, room, board and required fees. There are 141 colleges with an annual tuition of $10,000, and 7 are less than $5,000 but most do not have the degree you are looking for. On top of the tuition, some young adults are not ready for college level classes. Some high schools english classes where you had an easy paper every two weeks compared to colleges where you need a five page research in two days for different classes. Plus, on top of everything you have to study for your other classes and make sure you are on top of them all and not failing. Other kids do not have the right mindset going into college and once they are in college it is hard enough to sleep let alone study.
Most students are not ready on an academic basic most are not on a good working time management schedule. They do not have what some people like to call helicopter parents, making sure there doing their work, going to class, or something simple as doing their laundry. They are out of the house and on their own to do what they want when they want whenever they want. Most just want to stay up until four am then sleep until three pm the next day it is their choice. If they wanted to run with the bad crowd go right ahead there is no one to tell them otherwise.
The biggest issue with colleges is there party students. They will have parties’ everyday if they could get a grade on it. Then they get their friends how are the smart ones in on the parties and is downhill from there for them. Most parties go on until late at night or even early the next day so students sometimes do not even get to sleep for their next class on top of that they could be intoxicated so they will not even know what is going on. Half of the party students do not even show up for class so there not getting the information giving that day or their homework for the next class session. College seems all fun and games until you get there, your life would be turned upside down. Try to get scholarships and be mindful of the cost. Stay on top of your work and get a tutor either if it is a friend, classmate, or someone you do not even know. The best information that you have to remember in college is time management by the end of college you will be sick of hearing those words but it will help you as you go on in life.
