Past and Modern Time Heroes Essay Example
Past and Modern Time Heroes
What are heroes known for? Heroes are known for doing something good. People admire heroes for what they did. Heroes have always been around. There are some older heroes that are from the past as well as newer ones that are more modern. Theseus, Martin Luther King Jr., and Spiderman are all heroes from different time periods. Theseus is a hero from the past, he is a Greek hero. He became a hero by volunteering to be one of the Minotaur’s victims. The Minotaur was a fearful men-eating creature with a bulls head and a man’s body. To keep the Minotaur fed, Minos ordered the Athenians to send over 7 young men and 7 young women each year. Theseus though that it was unfair, so he took the place of one of the one young men to go confront the Minotaur and try to kill the beast. Theseus had the help of Aridne, one of the king’s daughters. He successfully killed the Minotaur and the people of Athens no longer had to send 7 young men and 7 young women to be fed to the Minotaur. He was seen as a hero to the Athenians.
Martin Luther King Jr. is also a hero from the past but more modern than Theseus. In the time of Martin Luther King there was a thing called segregation going on. Segregation is the separation of different racial groups, in this case it was white people and colored people. He was the most important voice of the Civil Rights Movement, which worked for equal rights for all. He worked hard and tried to end segregation and bring justice. He was famous for using nonviolent strategies and giving speeches to end segregation. Thanks to the great Martin Luther King Jr. there is now laws against segregation. Many people think he is a big hero and I would agree with those people. A more of a modern day hero is a superhero from a comic book such as Spiderman. A normal teenager gets bitten by a radioactive spider. The effect was that he got super strength and he had the ability to shoot webbings out of his wrist. He became a crime fighter

Him saying that he is going to go out into the labyrinth and “defeat” the minotaur also shows his courage, while showing his intelligence.
