Shortening School Days Essay Example
School days should be shortened by two hours, because students should have more time to complete homework and study. One reason to shorten the school days is that if you want to get into a good high school or college, students will need lots of time for homework. The students will also need time to study for quizzes and tests. Another reason to cut the school days by two hours is because of how many children finish their homework at late hours, but with these shorter days, students would be able to finish homework earlier. The last reason, is so that many children do not rush while doing their work, and so that they can take their time and pass in a neat assignment. School days should also be shortened because more time for extra-curricular activities would be allowed. Many children take part in sports that they enjoy, and the children need time for that. The students also need time for other hobbies such as playing an instrument, and some are very talented, and to get better, they need to practice. With all of the activities that the students are participating in, they also need time to sleep for a decent amount of time. They do not want to be tired for school the next day. The final reason school days should be shortened is to have time for spending time with family and friends. The ones you love will not be on Earth forever, so you need to treasure the time that you have left with them. Many parents work long hours during the week, and with the shorter school days, the students can finish their studies and spend time with their parents when they come home from work. Also some students need to become more social so that they can be ready for interviews in college. The students can become more social by making more friends, and they will have time for this because of the shortened school

One of the questions that I have pertaining to creating an annotated bibliography in APA format is whether or not the explanations and paragraphs of each reference should be indented the same as the reference. As I was reading the annotated bibliographies samples in the Purdue Online writing lab, I have noticed that the paragraphs under the references are flush with the indentation of the reference and the first sentence of each paragraph is not indented (OWL, 2009). However, as I was reading this week’s lesson and other classmates’ forums and comments here at AMU, I have noticed that the paragraphs are not indented as they are in the Purdue Online writing. This has me confused and I would like to know which is the correct form, AMU or the…

The traditional schedule for school is outdated because in the old days, it allowed for children to help harvest crops during the summer. Now, the long summer just enables kids to be lazy and easily forget what they learned at the end of the previous school year. If a year round school year were to be implemented, kids would not be able to be as lazy and breaks would not be so long as to let kids forget a whole bunch of their school curriculum.…

Schools should start later in the day because high schoolers would get close to the recommended amount of sleep, which will prevent them from sleeping in class and it will decrease the risk of students getting into dangerous situations. Most high schoolers need a good night sleep to perform well in school. People from the ages of 12-25…

I think that starting the school day later would greatly benefit the students and teachers. if we started school at about say nine thirty in the morning instead of eight thirty or earlier, that would mean that most students wouldn't need to be awake in the morning till almost seven thirty to eight thirty and some kids could even wake up a little later then that depending on where they live. granite it is proven that high school students only need six to eight hours of sleep each night but there is always that few that never get the six to eight hours of sleep.…

It can be hard for us to consistently give our best effort in school if there is not a longer weekend. It can be difficult for us to wake up early in the morning, before there is light outside, and efficiently work for seven hours at school. A longer weekend can help us gain more sleep time and relax from our previous week at school. Some of us may use this extra break to catch up on school work. Sometimes we may need a longer weekend to go on small vacations. A longer weekend can us time to pursue a job to earn some extra money for the many things that us teenagers must have. A longer weekend gives us more time to make choices on our own, instead of always being instructed by the school system.…

More time means a more flexible schedule for homework and assignments. Shorter school days, as short as 180/365, 0.493150685 long days or about half the typical hours a school day lasts. Imagine only having to go to school only 3 hours a day! The school year would be longer but the days would be super short. Plus, after school help could last longer for those who need it, and more time for students and teachers to focus on their personal lives, relieving stress for everyone. Ultimately, with all that extra time, students have more time to focus and study. In a year's total, it would give at least 540 more hours of free time, so there would be literally no excuse for late or missing work unless a student has super unique circumstances. information can be retained faster, save time for the teachers, and improve test grades for example my cousin lives in georgia and her year round schooling is going great she’s in the same grade as me and she is farther ahead of me. Less schools hours per day would mean less information that would have to be memorized per day. Miss days will have less effects on information. More ability to take time to do good work. Less have to review at one time. More time for tests review, and less…

Therefor I don’t think our school board should add time to each school day. I think we should keep our schedule starting at 7:30 and ending at 2:30. That way we can get home do chores, play and go to any afterschool activities. If we changed our school hours that would interfere with parents/guardians work schedules. Now with the schedules our school has we don’t get to restless with the teachers or other…

Schools should end later. From my personal experience, I usually end school and then have hours of extra curricular activities, because I am a dancer. This limits my time that I am able to spend on homework, and causes me to stress out. Also, it forces me to go to bed later and not get enough sleep for a growing teen. If school ended earlier I would be able to finish my homework earlier and get to go to bed earlier which would enable me to then get more sleep. Finally, I would get to spend more time with family. I am always rushing home from school, right to my homework and then off to dance, and then back home for homework. I never get to talk to my family and tell them about my day.…

It would be bad idea to add an extra one an half hour because there would be no time for extracurricular activities, older siblings wouldn’t be able to get their younger brother/ or sister off the elementary school bus, and schools would have to provide a snack for the children because it would interfere with families early dinner time. Can the school afford this? It is very important for families to have family time because families should have a strong bond. Also, kids should have time to get out their energy and have fun instead of learning for nine hours a day. Here are my reasons on why the School Board should not change school hours.…

Moreover, having students stay in school for more days can help the school meet its needs. A better explanation would be schools would have no problems, economically. To prove the point, students buy snacks, lunch, parking, and materials. Students don't realize how much they help the school pay its bills such as diesel, supplies, and utility payments. Having a four day school week can increase the…
