SMS Based Student Marks Information System
AUTOMATIC MARKS ANNOUNCEMENT SYSTEM THROUGH SMS
The aim of the project is to provide the student’s marks to the user(parents/students/other person) mobile whenever the examinations are conducted any time during its course of study .During the time of admission the college provides a ten digit mobile number to the to know the academic marks of his son /daughter.
At the end of the examinations and when the results are out, if any person want to know the marks of any student (he/she)has to send an SMS with Pin number to the ten digit mobile number provide by the college. Then he/she will receive an SMS regarding the concerned student academic marks from the college data base. The advantage of this project is that any person want to know the marks he has to send just an SMS. The main intention to design this kind of applications is to put the student’s thoughts and actions into right path.

To send the marks to the parent’s mobile, GSM modem is required. The modem provides the communication interface. It transports device protocols transparently over the network through a serial interface. The GSM modem is a wireless modem that works with a GSM wireless network. A wireless modem behaves like a dial-up modem. The main difference between them is that a dial-up modem sends and receives data through a fixed telephone line while a wireless modem sends and receives data through radio waves.

The project consists of the modules like GSM modem, microcontroller, the marks will be entered and saved in the PC and MAX232 used as an interface (voltage converter) between the modem and the microcontroller, microcontroller and PC. The data from the PC will reach the microcontroller through serial communication and will be finally sent to the user mobile through GSM modem.

The sending SMS through GSM modem when interfaced with microcontroller or PC is much simpler as compared with sending SMS through Modem in PDU Mode.Text message may be sent through the modem by interfacing only three signals of the serial interface of modem with microcontroller i.e.,TxD,RxD and GND.In this scheme RTS and CTS signals of serial port interface of GSM Modem are connected with each other. The transmit signal of serial port of microcontroller is connected with transmit signal (TxD) of the serial interface of GSM Modem while receive signal of microcontroller serial port is connected with receive signal (RxD) of serial interface of GSM Modem. The COMPIM Serial Port Model shown in the schematic diagram developed in Proteus VSM is equivalent to the serial interafce of GSM Modem.Sending SMS Messages from a Computer / PC Using AT Commands (AT+CMGS, AT+CMSS)…

Figure 1 shows the layout of a generic GSM network. The GSM network can be divided into three broad parts. The Mobile Station is carried by the subscriber, the Base Station Subsystem controls the radio link with the Mobile Station. The Network Subsystem, the main part of which is the Mobile services Switching Center, performs the switching of calls between the mobile and other fixed or mobile network users, as well as management of mobile services, such as authentication. Not shown is the Operations and Maintenance center, which oversees the proper operation and setup of the network. The Mobile Station and the Base Station Subsystem communicate across the Um interface, also known as the air interface or radio link. The researchers will create an automated monitoring and attendance system for students using barcode reader. Using the barcode reader, the teacher will have access to the profile of each student, which will be recognized by reading his or her identification card. At the same time, this system will send message to the parents to notify them that their child is within the school premises. Since the students will just put their ID’s direct to the barcode reader, the teacher will have no more hustle in monitoring the attendance of his/her students. Moreover, the school can assure the security of their students because it will recognize the attendance of each student. The parents are also assured of the presence of their child in school. There is a need to develop a new system because of the complaints of most of the teachers about their everyday tasks. The new system will provide an easier process for the teachers in monitoring the students and in notifying the parents through SMS. What is love? The question has been asked since the time of Plato, not only by the professional philosophers but by people from all walks of life. Much has already been written on this subject, answers to the question have been given and many more questions posed; and yet the reality of love has not been exhausted. The very fact that this question of what love is still being asked seems to show that love is part and parcel of man’s life, and a philosophy of man is incomplete without a philosophy of love, of man as loving.…
