What if the people we look up to, just bring us down? What if our heroes actually destroy us instead of saving us? What if there’s nothing special about those ‘incredible’ people we idolise? What if…
There comes a time in our life when we come across a fantastic person, who we think is perfect. Sometimes it’s a famous person and sometimes it’s just someone in our community, school or family. We want to talk like them, think like them, walk like them, breath like them… We want to be them! This admiration usually starts when someone is nice to us or when someone influential does something marvellous. We start looking up to them and this is when we start trying to be them. We can now be the best person we can be, because we have someone to follow, someone who is great, someone who will definitely save us from all bad, and someone who can lead us into a better and brighter future. These people become stars to us.
According to Wikipedia.com a star is ‘a massive, luminous sphere of plasma held together by its own gravity’. A star is pretty independent. It creates its own energy and doesn’t need another heavenly body to stay in the sky. Our beloved sun is a star and other stars light up the night sky. As you can see, stars are quite important and influential to our lives but as humans we are fooled by them. We still see the light created by star millions of years after it has died. So we still see a pretty star in the sky, when it sometimes doesn’t even exist anymore!
Our star, or role-model, could really make us reach our dreams and goals. They could change our lives and make us be the person we want to be. But what if they’re influencing our thoughts and make us want things that are going to be detrimental to our lives. They could transform from amazing people on the outside to people who are going to really disappoint us later. The inside of a person eventually comes out and they could start leading us
