Aspirin is prepared by reacting salicylic acid and acetic anhydride; in the presence of sulfuric acid. After fully dissolving the salicylic acid with acetic anhydride‚ the solution is cooled and cold water is then added. Once the crystals form they are then filtered and left to dry out.
