This graph indicates how much the world’s population has been growing from 1950 to 2050 in different world regions, which are color-marked for a reader’s convenience. There are also three types of markings for each continent respectively, which are:
solid line: medium variant
shaded region: minimum to maximum of variant
dashed line: variant constant-fertility rate*
* The total fertility rate is the number of children born per woman. More specifically, this rate shows the average number of children that would be born to a woman, who would live until the end of her childbearing years.
