8th Grade Graduation Speech
Graduation Speech
By: Olivia Ganoza
Good afternoon everyone my name is Olivia Ganoza. Thank you all for coming out to celebrate the class of 2017 8th grade graduation. We all are very pleased you could all join us today.
For 9 years I have attended Cabrillo School. From kindergarten in Ms.Peterson and Ms. Harrold’s class to Yosemite in Mr. Potter’s class. Ms. Peterson and Ms. Harrold’s class we raised baby chicks. To 2nd grade with Ms. Stoddard and the Mr. Potato head project . Having P.E every Friday with Mr.Valco, as we sang “I don’t know but I’ve been told Cabrillo is the School for me.” Then heading into B wing to Ms.Arias class doing multiplication. Next we headed into 4th grade with Ms.Padilla and performing Gold Dust or Bust. Then

I feel as 8th grade came everyone got much closer. Like any school we have groups. For example our athletes, our band kids, the creatives, and the skaters, just to name a few. My favorite thing from all the years is not the trips or the projects, but at the end of the day when all these groups come together as one. That's when we have the best times. Here are a few memories that I’ll never forget. The time at recess when Owen jumped on top of portable 1 and started dancing. In 5th grade when we went to outdoor ed and we all kissed banana slugs… I kissed 7 . Then on our 8th grade trip to Yosemite and the snowball fight by our tents. Claire Shaffer, Natalie and I got Danny, Richard, and Matt soooo good… then they got us right back… like usual. Also when everyone got Ms.Dwyer, yeah that was funny tell she said she was going to give us a quiz from it when we get back... and Mr.Potter and I had the best snowball fight ever. That was a trip to remember forever.
As we go forward to high school, as Ellen DeGeneres said “The most important thing in your life is to live your life with integrity and to not give into peer pressure to try to be something that you’re not.” So as we move on to high school, keep those wise words in your

We all had different jobs and worked in teams to complete a mission where the submarine must travel deep into the ocean to study coral reefs. In history class, we had to perform a assembly.…

So I appreciate you. And I know it’s been hard for a lot of us, some of you all are in the audience thinking “What is she talking about? I can’t wait to get out of here. My 6th-grade year was what I had thought, what I had hoped, high school would be like. We had more freedom than most and were able to get soda for lunch. My school also had a game room that we were allowed to go into after lunch, if out our grades were good, that is.…

Sixth grade was a major transition. Eight classes, PE uniforms, more freedom - except recess - but who was I kidding, it was going to be great! I met so many new people, including this girl Rachel Carney. We became instant friends and started Confirmation at church together that fall. That’s when I met Maddie, Rachel’s twin sister. Despite my newfound friendships, I was sucked into petty middle…

I remember when It was the beginning of May and I knew my days with my friends were numbered I was going to a different, I wanted to spend as much time I could with them. Life at child discovery center also known as GRCDC was amazing I had been there for four years and I had so many friends and when you went to a new grade there was no way you could get separated from your friends cause all you would do is go to a different class room like there would be two classrooms for each grade it was so awesome and cool that they did that.…

I honestly wish I could go back to fourth or fifth grade… I would change so much… everything was so easier! Making friends were so easy! Math was so much easier. Hell.. life was even easier. My teacher was ms.bufferhoff in 4th grade and ms. Dill-white in fifth grade. My fifth grade teacher as the best. For black history month, we researched all kinds of stuff and end up decorating the room. We pushed the desk together and made the room into a cat walk run way. We all dressed up and modeled all day while people came it. Everyone had so much fun. I had my first crush...D'amonte Burrel. He turned into my boy friend very soon. I remember when everyone found out. It was so easy back then though.I shared my snacks. We sat together in lunch. I remembered…

Hello, I am so honored to speak in front of all the parents, staff and my fellow students today. Wow guys we made it! These past 3 years have been full of so many memories that I know we’ll never forget. Think all the way back to 6th grade we were always the littlest ones and I remember feeling like a fish out of water. We were terrified of getting lost or being late for class, but excited to have a locker to decorate and change classes each period. It doesn’t seem like that was over 2 years ago at all. We came back in 7th grade, much more confident than the year before. We looked down to the new 6th graders, asking "Were we really that short just last year?" And by the end of 7th grade I was shocked that I was officially an 8th grader. 8th grade is defiantly my favorite year. I feel like I have everything under control. But next year is full of changes. We'll have free periods, more homework, electives, and an open campus. The new choices also bring new responsibilities that test us in figuring out how we grow from kids to adults. As we say goodbye on the last day we sit together as Balboa students, we reflect on what has happened the past 3 years, but also look forward to what is coming up in the next 4 years. My advice to future 8th graders is to keep up with your school work and try your absolute best and make lots of good, loyal friends that don’t get you in the bad kind of crowd. And most importantly, have fun! This is the last year you will be the oldest in the school for another 4 years, so enjoy it! I’d like to finish this speech off with this quote : A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.-Ayn Rand…

First of all, I would like to thank you all for coming to our graduation. What this ceremony is, is a celebration of a major accomplishment in our lives, the accomplishment of achieving an education. For many of us it has taken a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to get here, so today is our reward for the long hours we devoted to reading, writing, and researching, for the stress of taking difficult tests, and for the difficulties we have had to overcome. Though this ceremony recognizes OUR efforts in this accomplishment, it also recognizes and pays homage to the dedication of our parents. Today is the return on the work they invested in us through patient teaching and parenting. We would not have been able to accomplish this much without their help. Their guidance has allowed us to grow into men and woman of character, capable of doing great things. This ceremony is also both an end, and a beginning. It is the end of childhood, of a period of growing and maturing. But, it is also the beginning of a new chapter in our lives, one that is full of the promise of what we may accomplish. While I have the time I want to address the accomplishments of the past as well as the promise and potential of the future.…
