Some may go through depression, which in turn will affect how well they sleep and how they portray their purpose in life. This also ties into cognitive aspects but less sleep can have a negative affect on physical development. Your body needs rest to grow and teenagers are still growing. Depression can also affect teenagers eating habits; they can either eat less, none at all, or eat too much. Teenagers who don’t eat at all due to depression wouldn’t necessarily be bulimic or anorexic. However they can have similar health issues to these disorders. Other physical pains which most doctors probably wouldn’t be able to describe is a “broken heart”. That feeling you just can’t describe, it hurts, its burns, it stings, it just won’t go away. The most detrimental of these would be stress. Stress happens to all teenagers, whether it be they forgot to study for a quiz, or they are going out on a date. It happens to all teenagers for all different reasons. However, no one can really prepare for the stress they will incur from losing a parent, especially teenagers and children. It’s one thing if the person is an adult and has experienced life and its many ups and downs. Teenagers however, they’re still trying to find out who they are and why they’re here. So a traumatic event like this can stress out a teen much more than normal. Stress is never good for your body; it can cause sleep issues, hormonal issues, eating disorders, and many other things. However, with something like this stress is just not preventable.
