INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
School is a second home for students; the first thing that comes up in one’s mind when they think of it is all about academic performance. But school is not just about studying; it is also a place to get along with other people. They can do many things here. That’s why inside of it, organizations were built, wherein it organizes activities in which it became an instruments to find new friends and to learn new things. With these extra-curricular activities, it can also help an individual to enhance one’s talents.
Generally, according to second year accounting students of San Beda College, extra-curricular activities has a big impact when it comes to their academic performance like their time in studying is lessen because they can’t manage their time well. For them it serves as destruction because they think that all of their time will be spent in their organization. They were thinking that having an organization, non-academic organizations to be specific will not help you in your academics.
An extra-curricular activity is anything that is not under the academic curriculum but actually done inside the school. The time that was usually spent is not during the actual studying time of the students. It is because it might affect the academic performance of the students whether beneficial or not.
Statement of the Problem
This research paper aims to discover the positive effects of extra-curricular activities in the Department of Accountancy for second year students in their studies. The objective of the researcher is to prove that in everything, Time Management is the answer and through proper handling of obligations and responsibilities as a college student. 1.
