A number of times, we will do hill sprints, where we run to a hill around Peachtree City that our coach has picked out and sprint up it for as long as he says to. Typically, we will go to the hill in the neighborhood across from McIntosh. Most recently, we sprinted up this hill ten times. On Tuesdays, we normally have a rest/ recovery day. This helps our muscles to not be strained or overworked after our workout the previous day, and ensures they will not be tired or sore for our meet on Wednesday. A usual rest day consists of a four mile jog, followed by lifting weights and core exercises. On Wednesday we have our Junior Varsity meets, and most people run one or two events. The difference is that we all have a lot of adrenaline and attempt to go the fastest that we can. This equals about a typical workout. On Thursdays, we have another rest day. Usually, we have a longer run today, like five miles. On Fridays, we have another workout. An example of a workout we would do on Fridays is called the “3-2-1.” This consists of sprinting 300 meters, 200 meters, and then 100 meters. On the McIntosh track, this is .75 laps, half a lap, and a quarter lap. We will typically do this two or three times, depending on the workouts we had earlier in the week.
