Aileen Wuornos Research Paper
Monster (2003)
Aileen Wuornos The movie I have chosen to do my movie review over is “Monster” by writer and director Patty Jenkins. This movie is based on a true story about a lady named Aileen Wuornos, America’s first female serial killers. Aileen was brought up in a difficult abusive childhood lifestyle. By the time of her teenage years, Aileen ad become a prostitute, hoping some guy would discover her and make her famous just like Marilyn Monroe. Aileen eventually moved to the state of Florida where she became a highway prostitute trying to make a living. She then met a lesbian girl by the name of Selby, who she fell in love with. Selby was her last hope at starting over and leading a normal life. A major problem to starting a new life is the fact that all Aileen knew was abuse and violence; this was not good for the seven men that were soon to get in the way to her happiness.

Aileen was wild, there was no doubt about it, but could you actually blame her? Aileen, some people would like to agree that she was on the verge to insanity, but I think she finally reached her breaking point where she could no longer take it. She went through every child’s worst nightmare and was forced to hide it all inside, when she spoke of being raped she was only beaten for “lying”. Aileen was homeless; she could not land a job because of her unkempt appearance and lack of education. One minute she could be calm and in a split second she was a raging, angry mess screaming at the top of her lungs throwing anything she could get her hands on. Aileen was just a mentally unstable mess from all the trauma she had went through during her

Aileen Carol Wuornos was born in Rochester, Michigan to Diane Kathleen Wuornos and Leo Arthur Pittman. Her maternal grandparents were of Finnish descent. Pittman, whom she never knew, was a child molester who served time in Kansas and Michigan mental hospitals. He died by hanging, presumably self-inflicted while in prison at Kansas State Penitentiary in Lansing, Kansas on January 30, 1969. Wuornos' mother Diane was 15 years old when she married Pittman on June 3, 1954. Two children were produced during their marriage; Keith was born in 1955 and Aileen in 1956. Less than two years into their marriage and just a few months before Aileen was born, Diane divorced Pittman. Diane abandoned the two children in 1960. She left them in the care of their maternal grandparents, "Lauri" Jacob Wuornos and Aileen "Britta" Moilanen.…

Have you ever wanted revenge on your parents? Lizzie Borden was accused of the murder of her father and stepmother at the age of 31. I deem Lizzie guilty of the murder of her stepmother. Also, I think Bridget Sullivan, their servant was responsible for the murder of Abby Borden. According to source #3, Lizzie tried buying poison just days before the murders of her father and stepmother. She claimed the reason for the poison was to clean a sealskin cape. Plus she burned a dress the day after being named a suspect. In my opinion, most of the evidence points to Lizzie…

The home that Aileen was born into was very abusive which caused a lot of emotional and physical distress. Due to being abused at an early age her moral development was lacking. According to Gilligan’s Stage Theory of Moral Development “the first stage of moral development is the child’s first sense of what is good for him or her. Young children follow rules to obtain rewards for them and to avoid punishment.” And Because Aileen was a part of such a dysfunctional family she was punished no matter what she did so the lines between what is right and wrong were blurred for her. The next stage of Gilligan’s Stage theory of Moral Development states that “the person…

Lizzie Borden took an axe and gave her mother forty whacks. When she saw what she had done, she gave her father forty-ones, a skipping rope rhyme that rolled right off the tongues of many children over 120 years ago. A rhyme that told the gruesome endings of Andrew and Abby Borden's lives. Leading to a case that was left a mystery and hundreds of unanswered questions. Even after so many years people still want answers. But the main questions are could Lizzie Borden be responsible for the murder of her own parents? And are women capable of such a gruesome act? It states in The New Yorker that “about one in every six serial killers are women” and with more research Marissa Harrison and her colleagues identified “female serial killers that were…

Aileen Wuornos was born February 29, 1956, in Rochester, Michigan. Her parents were Leo Dale Pittman and Diane Wuornos. The Crime and Investigation Network editors refers to Leo Dale Pittman as “a psychopathic child molester” and Diane Wuornos as “a feckless teen mother quite incapable of the responsibilities of motherhood.” Aileen Wuornos had an older brother named Keith. Diane abandoned them in 1960. Her parents Lauri and Britta Wuornos adopted them both and raised them as their own children.
