Alan W. Watts: What Do I Desire?
What do I desire? To answer this question, you must first know a little more about person who is asking it. His name is Alan Wilson Watts, a renown British philosopher, writer and speaker who was born on January 6th 1915 in Chislehurst, England. At the age of 23 Watts moved to the United States where he began his studies in the art of Zen and earned himself a master’s degree in Theology at the Seabury-Western Theological Seminary. But he didn’t stop there in 1945 Watts Became an Episcopal Priest and 5 years later left the ministry and moved to California where he joined The American Academy of Asian Studies.

To begin with he heavily criticized the educational system that is used to teach the younger generations. He goes on to explain that parents allow this only because they want their kids to grow up to be just like them. So instead of kids learning to be whatever they want to be, they are raised to chase the money. This leaves them in a position that they do something they don’t like doing for the rest of their lives just to make a living. In the earlier years of high school I never bothered to much with my work and always put little effort in it. My attention was never drawn to what they taught in classes but to what there was outside of school to be learned. I remember getting home from school and doing my homework as fast as I could just to get on my computer and look up YouTube “How to” videos that I found interesting and wanted to try out. My passion then was to create things that require a lot of build up to get to the finished product it gave me a sense of accomplishment. It was Through the internet that I became very knowledgeful on computers in most classes I was the go to guy when it came to electronics.
Although my grades were never that high and it wasn’t because I lacked the knowledge it was more of a lack of effort. I found myself spending more time finding ways to photoshop, create logos, edit cool videos and trying to make a simple game than I did in homework. Still I never failed a class because my exam grades and test grades were always
