The patient seemed to be pale, fragile and tired, despite the pain and discomfort the patient experiencing, the sonographer’s respectful, compassionate, soft touch and tapping on the shoulder made the exam go very smooth and easy for both the patient and the sonographer. The way the sonographer kept comforting the patient made the patient emotional to the point where she cried. After the exam was over the patient called the ultrasound department manager and asked her to let the sonographer “who scanned her” take her up to her room instead of the transporter. What I learned from this as a sonography student is to smile, care, and be patient, compassionate, careful and respectful of my patients. I learned to support and respect not only patients, but co-workers staff and all healthcare providers. Observing that situation prepared me to have a plan, a plan to practice patient care and be compassion every time I scan patients or dealing their family and every time I deal with a co-worker or a friend or a family
