The radio broadcast impacted my understanding of rights in a good way. In a triage situation, doctors do their best to save as many lives as possible, and I believe they should do whatever they must to accomplish that. You must grow to care for each of your patients and feel the need to give them the best care you can possibly give. It is know that doctors sometimes struggle to show compassion towards patients because they feel the “touchy-feely” side of medicine isn’t as important as pills and surgeries, CT scans and radiation therapies are. Being able to relate to patients and understand what they are going through not only helps doctors grow closer to patients but patients grow closer to the doctor. However, in a triage situation, doctors need to put aside their compassion for the patients so they are able to assess the situation clearly. Many people would want to save their friend or loved one first, but what if they aren't in as critical ill or hurt as another? Or what if they are so badly hurt they shouldn't be top priority?
