In May 2015, I took a leap of faith and did something that I thought I would never do it in the first quarter of my life. I was grateful that this happened and changed the way I think life is, making me more independent. Since young, it was my dream to travel to Europe and bask in the unique culture with a long history. Exactly a year later, my dream finally came true. I was about to travel to my dreamland and what’s more? This was my first time flying across to another continent without my parents. All I have with me was my clumsy and self-proclaimed unlucky cousin.
This is the best moment of my life and I honestly cannot wait to start my adventure. However, I realised that it is a series of misadventures. As we were waiting in line to check in, the airline service staff approached me and asked for my name. He then informed us that we were in the wrong queue and were the only two passengers that have not checked in. I was even more horrified when he informed us that most of the passengers were already on board of the plane. My cousin apologized and said something before the plane took off. Of all days, we decided to be in Paris on Tuesday and that day was the only day the Louvre is closed. We went back to our hotel, which apparently my cousin managed to find a cheap and nice one, and booked a 5.30am bus to the airport the next day since our flight to London was at 6am. When I awake at 5am, I found the room stuffy and dark. I could not switch on anything. My cousin told me that we had a blackout last night. She thought that the hotel staff will fix the issue but they didn’t. What was worse is that our room is the only room that had a blackout. Had it not for my body clock, we would have missed the flight. Moral of the story: Never trust hotels that offer really low
