Animal Farm Boxer Character Analysis

“In reality, hope is the worst of all evils, because it prolongs the torments of man” (Friedrich Nietzsche). In the book Animal Farm, there are many different values that the characters reflect as they go about their work. Some show true hard work and try to put others first unlike some who try to take over all of the farm. Slowly and surely the true colors of the animals come out; some nasty and some shine with kindness. A few of the animals begin to be two faced as the lust for power takes over their lives. The rest of the animals kept hope for what was to come and followed blindly, leading to total destruction of the farm that had once been so free. Napoleon the pig was truly the one who slowly led the farm to destruction as Boxer the horse showed true virtue and
Never did he leave his other comrades or fail to put them first. Of all on Manor Farm, Boxer was the most devoted and hardworking beast out there. “His answer to every problem, every setback, was ‘I will work Harder!” (29). Even Boxer’s motto shows it all. Battling through all trials and tribulations was what he did. When he came to his maximum working load, he worked even harder and exceeded one-hundred and ten percent. “He had been a hard worker even in Jones’s time but now he seemed more like three horses than one; there were days when the entire work of the farm seemed to rest on his mighty shoulders” (29). In the book it continues to tell how Boxer was admired by all as he continued to show true virtue. Boxer has super high moral standards and didn’t expect nothing than less of himself. By the end of the book Boxer ends up working himself to death as his health slowly spiraled but he died a hero to all. People can learn from his example that in this world, there is still fantastic and amazing people like Boxer that can show true leadership and can no matter what, keep pushing past all trials in life. When you have a setback, work
