Command Economy is capable of dramatic change and has basic public services available for low. Even though it doesn’t meet the needs of consumers and new or different ideas are highly discouraged, which describes Animal farm perfectly. Before the command economy, the farm had more of a traditional economic feel to it. Mr. Jones set forth certain roles for all animals of the community, and kept a stable, predictable life on the farm. Ideas were still discouraged and there was a lack of progress, along with a lower standard of living. The farm the animals dreamed of, along with Old Major was a Market Economic setting. They wanted to be able to adjust to change gradually but surely, there would be individual freedom for all animals, there wouldn’t be any interference from a higher power, there would be more consumer satisfaction, and although public goods would seem to end up scarce, they wouldn’t because a rule Old Major wanted to implement into their society. The rule Old Major wanted to put into their new revolutionized world was to not be able to trade with outside parties. This is a good idea, because then their economy would lose a few disadvantages, including low public goods and market failure. On the newly ‘revolutionized’ farm, Napoleon and his public speaker seem to set the basis of living, by stating rules or commandments to follow. They begin slowly changing these rules to better suite themselves and commanding animals to do what they want. They slowly begin setting up the What, How, and For Whom questions. They give different jobs to different groups of animals, to try and gain a finished product that they can use later, or even possibly try to
