Animal Rights Now days, the issue on animal rights is highly debatable, and the ideas vary from person to person. The issue of whether we should protect animal rights. It is an important issue because it concerns human’s fundamental moral and animal’s impartial rights. For many years, scientists have used animals to test new drugs and for food. Many animals died in experiments. Poultry could not satisfy the taste of humans anymore, so hunters and fishermen started to catch wild animals and sea animals for human needs. Much disagreement exists concerning the rights of non-human animals and the meaning of animal rights. Some people believe that animals should be treated in the same way as humans with similar rights, whereas others consider the importance of using them as desired food and medical research. As a result, animal rights have become a relevant issue. Humans must employ animals to satisfy their various needs, including uses for food and research. According to “California biomedical research association,” the researchers explained the reason for animal use in biomedical research. They claimed “animals are biologically similar to humans” so that “animals are susceptible to many of the same health problems as humans” (“Why”). Furthermore, animals live a shorter life cycle than humans; as a result, they can be studied throughout their entire life span or across several generations. The third reason for animal use concerns scientists who can easily control the environment around animals, which would be difficult to do with humans (“Why”). Considering the safety of new products, use animals to test approved as the best way. Some vegan proponents think that animals should not provide food. However, people find many reasons to eat meat which is incredibly nutritious and does not raise the risk of cardiovascular disease (Gunnars).
However, some people believe that animals should not be exploited by

Imagine an animal’s feeling of panic and fear as it is about to be killed by a hunter or the isolation experienced as an animal sits in a laboratory, separated from its family and natural habitat, waiting to be harmed by harsh testing methods. Imagine the frightened state of a mother or father watching their innocent baby being captured. After considering the brutality towards animals in these scenarios, take into consideration the health benefits humans receive from different parts of these animals. Imagine health risks avoided through testing on animals first instead of on humans. Does human benefit justify the harm and killing of animals? Linda Hasselstrom’s essay “The Cow Versus The Animal Rights Activist” and Tom Regan’s “Animal Rights, Human Wrongs” argue this question through analysis of the reason for killing animals, the method in which they are killed, and the morality of the killing of animals.…

Animals from creation have been an essential integral part of human beings. They have frequently been, either directly or indirectly, used by humans to achieve their needs. Hence they are important part and great asset to humans. These animals do have lives different from that of humans and equally have some similar characteristics with humans like emotional feelings. This very fact puts humans in a difficult position of determining the amount of respect and regard that should be accorded to the animals. Some people agitate that animals should be granted same equal rights as human beings. Inasmuch as I quite agree that animals should be granted some rights in order to be free from cruel treatments by humans, the issue of granting them equal full rights as enjoyed by humans should not come up. An objective review of such factors as tradition, cultural believes, religious, socio-economic, and medical as well as salient natural features that distinguish animals from humans like morality, and ability to…

If humans have been given rights of their own, animals should have rights, too. Animals don’t deserve to be experimented on. They feel pain just as humans. We shouldn’t take animals for granted. They have a huge part in our world’s natural cycle. In Lisa Kemmerer’s article titled “Animal Rights” she asserts the issue of what defines animal rights. She addresses the fact that animals need rights just as humans. Ms. Kemmerer subtopics consist of the challenges that follow animal rights, the importance of animal rights, and the reasons why we need to consider standing up for animal rights. As Lisa Kemmerer states, “Animal rights is a simple idea because, at the most basic level, it means only that animal share a right to be treated with respect. It is a profound idea because its implications are far-reaching” (275). It is very important to acknowledge that animals need to be treated with respect. Animals are unable to voice their own rights. It is our duty to use our own rights to advocate the rights of animals. Without advocates for the rights of animals, our economic system may drop from unlawful standards. As a second writer suggests that as human we have moral obligations to not judge one by their outward appearance, skin colour, and ethical background yet we seem to judge animals without considering their feelings (274). We have such an impact on animals that we must stand up for animals and protect them. If we don’t take a…

The last reason that animals don’t need a Bill of Rights, is that humans come first over animals with low cognitive ability. For example, they talk about how a fish can remember its path to run away from predators. But that doesn’t prove that they feel pain and shows that they really aren’t smart at all. They say, “they can learn geometrical relationships and landmarks”(Braithwaite). Another reason is that we haven’t even defined pain for ourselves,…

In December 11, 2013 a group of Animal Rights activists from the Indiana Animal Rights Alliance was protesting near the Bankers Life Fieldhouse, an indoor arena located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Up to 100 activists showed up at the Fieldhouse before each performance; some of the activists came from as far away as Kentucky to support the cause. Their protests were based against the practices used by the Ringling Brothers Circus to train and take care of animals. Only few people stopped to talk to the members of the association, while several others yelled “shut up.”i According to Lori Lovely, “One father encouraged his two-year-old-daughter to ‘say it, say it!’ She uttered an expletive to the demonstrators.”ii People were not being receptive of the issue pertaining animal abuse. Linda Cridge, an activist of the animal rights said, "They try not to look at us because they don't want to know the truth."iii According to the article, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the Animal Protection Institute had filed a lawsuits against the Ringling Brothers Circus for the mistreatment and use of endangered species. Animals on a daily basis all over the world are being mistreated and abused by many people that do not care for them. There are very few people attempting to protect these animals, whether they are domestic animals, farm animals, or wildlife animals. More attention should be drawn to the treatment of animals because even if we do have laws for animals and for their well being, many people still do not follow these laws. The laws already established for animals should be enforced, because I do agree that animals need protection, as in free from any harm done towards them purposely, but to have a Bill of Rights specifically made for animals seems extreme.…

Our Media now adays is absorbed into pollitics. You cant turn on a news network without them talking about politics. It has become the hot new trend and it gets them the views which makes them the money. In my opinion it has gotten old, talking about politics just makes me angry and it gets me nowhere because in the end of a heated debate I am still in the same place I was before. So I have decided to try to stop talking about politics and get into issues that get little to no media coverage. Out of all the chaos in our world I think we should focus on a topic that is often seen as odd yet very true.…

In his essay The Case for Animal Rights, Tom Regan has set out a broad outline as an introduction for his book, The Case for Animal Rights, with same title. In the beginning, the author makes a special emphasis on that, the goals of the advocation of animal rights not only make people treat animals ‘more humane’, but also deny the view, which is fundamental wrong, that animals are humans’ resources. As a defender of animal rights as well as a philosopher, Regan attempts, through his professional knowledge, which area he has been exploring over ten years, to justify that animals have the rights as equal as human beings. In his own words, “people must change their beliefs before they change their habits”.…
