Any organization or program may be diverse in ethnicity or they will have a majority of one background. To put it into a real world application, take the NBA as an example. The NBA takes pride in having diversity within their own environment by recruiting foreign players. Nevertheless, the NBA is dominated by African Americans but not by the NBA’s choice. If one could simply open their eyes, then they will see that this phenomenon is solely because of personal choice. The NBA doesn’t choose to restrict access to exclusively the African American population. To prove that this in true, take a look at the matter involving Donald Sterling, former owner of the L.A. clippers. He made a couple statements insulting “black” people. His statements were harsh, stating that “black” people shouldn’t be encountered with. This devastated many people close to him and on the team affecting the team for weeks. In turn, the NBA forced him to sell his team and he was gone. The NBA will not tolerate any statement regarding racism as they are open to all. If, for some reason, the NBA were to restrict access to certain racial groups, then obviously some kind of statement would be necessary.
Lucky for us, that world is past us all. Now, think of the NBA scenario as an analogy for the statement regarding the AP program. Students in a classroom are in that room by their choice, or their parents. Either way, it’s not the school that’s deciding what classes students take, much
