When I began researching gun control the first information I found was about school shootings. ‘The Academy for Critical Incident Analysis at John Jay College of Criminal Justice reports 294 attempted or actual school killings with at least two victims over 250 years in the U.S. and 37 other countries.’ I agree, and understand these numbers are outrageous and something has to be done.

Two high school students obtained guns and ammo at a local gun show, Phillip Duran introduced them to Mark Manes. Manes was sentenced to a six-year term was for selling handguns to minors. Duran was sentenced to four and a half years for his involvement. Both men knew the boys were underage as they helped put the murder weapons in their hands. Both boys committed suicide that day. After the Columbine shootings, many schools across the US started a “zero tolerance” policy. This is zero tolerance of bullying, threats of violence and or disruptive behavior.
Looking further into this, I have found that school shootings are not something new to the United States. The Cleveland Elementary School massacre in Stockton, California, was the first” mass shooting” of our history. Patrick Edward was a member of a white supremacist, Aryan Brotherhood group, he was said to have problems with alcohol and drug addiction, he had a long criminal history dating back to when he was 12 years old.
