Animal Rights
Do human beings have any obligations to animals in terms of their treatment? If it is wrong to treat animals cruelly, why is it not wrong to eat them? Explain if, and how, you think humans can find a balance between treating animals ethically while also raising them for food and for other reasons, such as the testing of pharmaceuticals.
I believe humans have obligations to animals concerning their treatment while under their care, not just animals as a pet. For example, the hunter has a responsibility to be familiar enough with his weapon and know how to use that weapon as well as the anatomy of the animal he is hunting so that he may cleanly quickly and humanly kill the animal that he is hunting. I feel
that if you are going to kill an animal it is inhuman if you don’t eat it.
The pet owner has a duty to provide a good home which includes shelter, food and medical attention for their pet.
It is unfortunate that we have to test animals with medications and other products to ensure our safety. We really have no other alternative, untimely our testing goes from animal to human to test the safety of the product or medication. Basically I don’t see anything wrong with testing a product on animals it is unfortunate but there is no other alternative. Personally I think the lab rat has a good purpose. I think testing on animals is necessary. Weather anyone chooses to consume meat and dairy products is strictly that individual’s choice. I feel that that choice is up to the individual. No one has the right to tell the other that they are wrong it is the individual’s choice and should be respected.
