Augustus Athey Case Summary
Reason Case was accepted for investigation:
On 8/24/17, Hennepin County Child Protection accepted a report of alleged sexual abuse predatory offender and threatened injury of Augustus Athey by his father Andre Athey. On 8-23-2017 reporter stated that Augustus Athey is the newborn child of Andre Athey a convicted sexual offender who lives in the home. Per reporter Andre Athey has other children some of which have already been assessed.
The outcome of the Assessment:
This worker met with Ms. Alexandria Lund at Brookdale office. This worker discussed about the allegation. Ms. Alexandria stated that she is aware that Mr. Athey is registered as predatory offender in Minnesota. She stated that they discussed this prior to their relationship. This

Athey at Brookdale office and his newborn son Augustus Athey was present. Mr. Athey appeared frustrated with the new allegation. He stated that he was registered as predatory offender and that it was successfully closed in Dakota County. He also stated he successfully completed his probation as well. This worker mentioned that CP may get involved each time there is a newborn baby. Mr. Athey appeared frustrated but accepted the county policy.
Mr. Athey stated that he lives with his fiancé Ms. Alexandria and their newborn son Augustus Athey and daughter Lacey. His son Augustus DOB 8/5/17 and he was born at St. Paul united hospital. Mr. Athey stated that he has other children and they live with their mother and reports no concerns. He stated that his other two daughters are living with their mother in Farmington.
He denied childhood abuse and neglect. He stated that he drinks occasionally. Mr. Andre was asked about discipline techniques and he stated that he takes away electronics and games. He denied any physical abuse and stated that he uses verbal communication.
** Mr. Athey’s other children names are Alexia Madrid DOB 3-21-2001 and Abigail Athey DOB 3-17-2006. They are staying with their mother Latesha Madrid DOB 4-15-83. ADDRESS Per MAXIS: 17386 Euclid Avenue, Farmington

    Crystal Taylor, at the age of fourteen, gave birth to her son Daquan Drummond, on October 7, 1984. Crystal went into labor unexpectedly and prematurely. Little Daquan was born two months premature and weighed three pounds six ounces, born with a heart murmur and slight difficulty breathing. When Crystal was faced with the caseworker from social services, she realized that she would only be dismissed from the hospital with little Daquan, if the caseworker was certain that her mother Florence’s apartment was suitable for living with the infant. The caseworker also believed, that Crystal had been coerced into sex with father Daquan Jefferson because he was so much older than Crystal, she denied all allocations. The caseworker determined that crystal would be placed in Queensboro Society for the Prevention of Cruelty Children, until her mother would find a sufficient apartment for her children and grandchild. Crystal continued the eighth grade in the Bronx, where the residents of Queensboro. By December little Daquan weighed seven pounds and was overdue for his discharge. Crystal’s mother Florence still had not found a sufficient home for them to live. By mid December little Daquan was placed in voluntarily foster care. By voluntarily placing him in foster care it would be easier for Crystal to get him back when she was mentally stable with a healthy environment. Little Daquan was placed with the Hargrove’s, a couple which lived in Long Island. Crystal began weekend visits to continue a relationship with little Daquan. Crystal had all intentions of getting little Daquan back once she was ready, although through her adolescence she became very destructive. In 1992, Crystal found an apartment, and got little Daquan back. At this point he was 8 years old.
