must be looking up so you can pass the ball to them. This will become an easy habit if you are used to doing it in practice. Lastly, when you dribble hard and quick, it is extremely difficult for a defender to steal the ball from you. If you are used to doing this during practice, your arms will be strong and quick enough to successfully do the same in a game. Now that you know what it takes to improve your ball handling skills, you must understand the importance of the dedication that is required to shoot the basketball well. The whole goal of the game is to put the ball through the orange hoop so of course everyone needs to be able to do this. Like dribbling, there are various drills than can be completed to enhance your technique. Having the correct shooting form is critical when doing these drills. If you continue to use the wrong method, your shot will obviously never progress. First, you need to have a good balanced stance with your toes pointed towards the rim and your knees bent. This makes sure your body is aimed in the correct direction. Second, you need to hold the ball in your dominant hand on your fingertips with your wrist cocked back and your opposite hand on the side of the ball. It is important to only use your opposite hand to help balance the ball and not actual push with it. This could cause the ball to have an incorrect rotation which will result in a missed shot most of the time. Finally, shoot the ball upward and break your wrist over with a good follow through. Following through is the key to this step because it is what cause the ball to rotate with a backspin, giving you a better chance of making your shot. Without this rotation, the ball is likely to shank off of the rim. Remember to use this form in every practice and game when you shoot the ball. The last basic skill that can be practiced to improve you entire game is defense.
Not everyone is naturally fast or tall, but everyone has the ability to work hard. All you have to do to become a great defender is to have the right attitude and work ethic. If you tell yourself that you are not going to let the other team score, you can certainly do it if you are willing to put in effort. However, you cannot run around like a chicken with your head cut off and knock people down to keep them from reaching the goal. You must get into a wide, low stance and slide your feet to keep yourself between your opponent and the goal. This is very exhausting, but if you keep this positon while practicing defense, you will build endurance to do it even better in the
game. As you should know, nothing in life comes without a price. The price to be paid to develop a prosperous basketball career is hard work, dedication, and learning to do things the proper way.
