My Imagined Beach

ENG121: English Composition
August 26, 2013

After living for fifty-five years and visiting a lot of places, I have never been to or sat on, or walked along beach like the one in my imagination. Even though, I have not had this pleasure, I do have a vivid imagination. Sometimes when I want to get away, I imagine walking along the shores and sitting on the beach. My get away beach is perfect. The most beautiful beach that I have ever seen is in my imagination. In my imagination my perfect beach is a place where the sand looks clean like sugar spread out for miles. In the early morning, I can walk along the shore the soft, warm sand is squishing between my toes and making foot prints with every step (Scripps Networks, LLC. 2012). The sun is shining its blessings and cool crystal clear waters are kissing my feet. I find to be so peaceful to see the sand castles that still remained from the day before. At the shore there are colorful seashells in the sand when the sun hits down on them. In the distance is the ocean, which is as blue as blue as the sky (Scripps Networks, LLC. 2012). Another thing that I can see is the seagulls free like the wind soaring through the sky. I can also hear the seagulls loudly shriek as they soar gracefully above. I imagine that I am sitting on my perfect beach in evening, smelling the salt air, and feeling the cool breeze. I can hear the water and the crashing waves collide against the shore with their relaxing, rhythmic splashes like smooth jazz music (The Daily Paul, 2007-2013). The sun is slowly melting into the ocean and the sky is the shade of bright purple that can only be seen at dusk. It has been a long, hot day in the sun, and it feels nice to know that if I get too hot that I only have to walk about ten feet down until I get into the brisk cool waters of the ocean. Peace, serenity, contentment is the feeling that overwhelms me when I’m at my perfect

You see, I do not necessarily care for the blistering hot days southern Florida is known for. I enjoy the beach the most when it is cooler; especially when it has just rained. I sit back in my beach chair and look up to the sky. The clouds create a pleasant, refreshing blanket from the hot sun. I take a deep breath and, I can smell the rain that has just fallen. Now, the clouds are breaking and letting little slivers of sunlight shine threw. The new sun seems to change the color of everything. The sand is a bright white with speckles of glittering shells. The ocean is a deep shade of aqua with the sunlight glistening over it. This is…

As I sprint across the hot sand that burns the soles of my feet, the smell of salt water and sunscreen hits my face. I can see teenagers nearby as they dive to save a falling volleyball, covering themselves in grains of sand. While I’m preoccupied, watching the intense game of volleyball, the cold waves of the Atlantic Ocean come crashing down on my legs. I can hear my best friend, Tara, dying of laughter as my body tries to adjust to the temperature of the sparking turquoise waters. Surrounding us is vibrantly colored tropical plants and trees.…

It's nighttime and darkness is starting to set in. The air is crisp and calm, whispering a sweet lullaby, the beach quiet and relaxing. A spontaneous crab hurries on his way to get back home. Lying there on my soft blanket, the sand caving in to make the perfect shape of my body, I look up into the remote distance. How vast and wondrous the sky is! Just listen, the waves crash onto the water's edge. Further down the shore I can hear them beckoning me as they hurtle themselves onto the cliffs.…

It was nearly sunset and I was relaxing along the soothing beach in Capitola, California. My brother and sister were assembling sand and shells to make a colossal sand city while my parents were in two chairs chatting. As I was ambling down the oceanfront my feet would feel the chilly waves and I could sense the gentle wind blowing my way. I was reminiscing about the exciting activities previously that day, including swimming through the waves, body surfing, and passing around a volleyball with my brother.…

As we approach the beach, the first thing I notice is the sky. As I look into the cloudless, cerulean blue sky and see the flawlessness of life; in the distance, rolling clear-blue waves crash into each other with such force as that of football players. The sky is breathtaking along with the sounds of the waves and the tide washing onto the shore. The water reminds me of crystals shimmering in the water with the sun reflecting off of it. As the sun sets, the sky turns into a pink hue with a bright orange sun going down into the horizon.…

As I stroll along I can feel the soft smooth sand beneath my feet. I am taken in by the calming atmosphere that encircles me. I close my eyes, letting myself absorb the blistering rays of the sun on a scorching summer day. I am comforted by the sounds of the ocean; the rhythmic pounding of the waves suppressing all of my worries. I look into the cloudless blue sky and see the perfection of life. I often want to be like a seagull, drifting endlessly in the wind without a care in the world. As I sit in my chair I can see all the sights of summer. Children building sandcastles along the ocean’s edge, to my right I observe an elderly couple indulged in a good book. I am soon at the point where my skin can no longer stand the ruthless heat of the blazing summer sun. I run as fast as my feet can carry me toward what my body sees as a endless pool of crystal blue water. I dive into the crashing waves head first. The shock of the frigid water takes my breath away leaving me momentarily stunned. However I quickly recover as my body adjusts to the cold water. Floating peacefully among the waves, I am unaware of the approaching waves that are soon to break over me. Crash! A outrageous wave has just taken me over. Its force knocks me to the sandy bottom of the ocean. I am rejuvenated and awakened as I am carried back to the shore. Exhausted, I return to my peaceful spot on the beach. I quickly find myself once again blazing under the warmth of the summer sun.…

Excitement builds within me when I hear the soothing sound of waves crashing on a deserted beach and smell the saltiness hanging in the air. Waves crashing onto the fine sand beckon me to pick my boogie board up lodged in the fine sand next to me. The tide takes me out in waves of ups and downs until I am ready to ride the perfect wave back! The coolness of the water soothes my hot skin as it gently washes over me. I feel exhilarated when after what feels like hours my feet sink into the wet sand leaving foot prints behind me on my way back to my towel on the beach.…

The beach has many great things to experience, it is one of the few places a person can go where they can be completely content by just sitting and taking in their surroundings. The warm and soft sand moves beneath the feet of visitors as they are taking a relaxing walk down the shore. The visitors pass by children building small sandcastles and a strong smell of suntan lotion fills the air surrounding them. The slowly inching tide approaches the sandcastles and starts to chip away at them piece by piece. The water hits the tiny structures and the color of the sand darkens as it is pulled away into the cold lake.…

As I walk down the narrow, brown, rickety bridge that leads to the ocean my heart begins to race in anticipation of reaching the fascinating sight. I’m suddenly surrounded by sand that is white and pure as snow. I walk at a turtle’s speed absorbing this overwhelming beauty that encircles me. The sky is the brightest blue I’ve ever seen, so bright that it almost seems as if it is from an animated movie and not real life itself. Fluffy clumps of clouds that were covering the sky before slowly fade away into thin air and the crystal clear waves sparkle like diamonds. The water is never-ending. I see heaps of seagulls flying around the sky, white and grey and full of spirit. As a gust of wind runs through my long, dark, brown hair I look to the right to see two elegant dolphins leap from the deep blue sea and dive back in as if saying hello to the gorgeous, heavenly day.…

The blissful, enclosed, beach is silent. The bright glow of the sun blinds you as it emerges; it rises like a yellow puppet on the distant horizon. Crashing against the shore, small waves wash the night's debris onto the land. Untouched golden sand covers the floor as far as your eyes can see. Soothing, a gentle sea breeze rustles through your hair. Beach shops prepare for their day of excited costumers bustling in and out of their small seafront shops. Looking out to the sea you can see the large cruise ships on the world’s edge. The beach looks abandoned, nothing there apart from a few sea gulls pecking at the rubbish left by yesterday's visitors. Empty crisp wrappers, chocolate wrappers, ice cream papers and half eaten cones scatter the yellow sand.…

When asked to think of paradise it invariably throws up a picture of the palm tree lined, white sanded beach and clear blue sea, this is not by accident. It has long been most people’s idea of paradise, since the eighteenth century people who could, holidayed by the sea. Some of the most desirable properties and land in the world are by the sea. To me the coming together of land and sea is one of the most therapeutic things to look at and hear in some cases. The spectacular cliffs with their sheer drops and crashing waves on the rocks below…
