Beauty and the Beast

Magical, enchanting and great talent is the words I would use to express my enjoyment of the production Beauty and the Beast I attended Friday night at Walter State Community College. Beauty and the Beast is a classic I remember watching growing up. I was very pleased with the wonderful execution of the fairy tale I remember so fondly. The young age of the actors and actresses gave it a special touch and brought the whole production together. I loved seeing excitement on the young audience faces as the production came to life. My experience as a whole was a great one.
My favorite part of the production was the joy on the faces of the actors and actresses. You could see and feel the excitement and pure enjoyment of presenting this presentation for the audience. I have been to several presentations in my life time and I have never felt such a sense of happiness in the air like I did with Beauty and the Beast at Walters State Community College. The young children in the audience were dressed in the yellow Belle dress and the air in the auditorium was wonderful.
The Young age of the cast was a wonderful touch. Beauty and the Beast reaches out to a young audience. The ages made the production have an enhanced fairy tale feeling. When I decided to go to this particular production and realized it was going to be put on by a cast of 18 and younger I didn’t expect it to be well executed and thought it would have an elementary feeling to it but I was very wrong and felt as if the ages chosen for this Disney production was an excellent decision. I believe it would be hard to portray the innocence needed for many of the characters of Beauty and the Beast if you chose anyone other than children or young teens.
My reasoning for choosing Beauty and the Beast was my love for Fairy tales and Disney movies in general. Beauty and the Beast was always my favorite Disney movie growing up the characters were my favorite .I love the way it takes you to a

I also saw many people from different age groups; this gave me a feeling that the show would be entertaining enough to get people from all ages to come and see the show. The environment of the theatre was very formal, as there was a red and gold layout and it was also very clean.…

The Disney-Fication of the Jeanne-Marie LePrince de Beaumont version of Beauty and the Beast is amazing in how they manipulated the elements to change the mood. In Europe, the 1700’s was a different time than present day America in which Marie Le Prince de Beaumont’s and Disney’s version of the text of Beauty and the Beast was written and made. To begin with, Europe in the 1700’s was very religion based, meaning that God always came first no matter the situation and has been a dominant thought in shaping the future for Europe. The order of priorities in that time in Europe was God, the Monarchy or royal family, and then comes the rest of a person’s priorities. A monarchy always has a royal family in which there is a king or queen, princes and princesses and they do little to no work while the poor did all the work. In preset day in America, there are no monarchies in a democracy and the harder a person works in life then the better off that person will be in succeeding.…

The dancing and body language was great. Since the production was in a classroom, the stage and my seat were about a foot and a half apart. I was up close and personal with the actors and actresses. They had great dance numbers that were very well choreographed. Each motion had a purpose and was done with confidence, you could they had practiced these movements for quite a while.…

There costumes seemed to be very nice but, I feel that Flounder’s costume could have been improved. The costumes of all the characters made it easy to distinguish who was who and they all had very good singing voices. My girlfriend also sings and she mentioned that they had very good voices. The orchestra played the theme music well and sounded spectacular. One thing which I disliked was that the orchestra was playing underneath the stage and it was very hard to see them. I feel they did not give enough recognition to the orchestra who play a very big role in the…

The musical overall had good special effects. The screens that pulled down were a very good idea. This showed how the characters saw the future with significant others and created a sense of how the character, Audrey saw her life. The lighting also reflected the tone of the musical. The lighting was a little darker throughout the musical and played it off a happy and bright town to a dark and scary town towards the end, but also reflecting the rock bottom the town is. The plant was so amazing how they worked with it and the…

“Beauty and the Beast” is a classic fairy tale that has been retold through various media such as oral storytelling, written short story, opera, film and musical theatre. With each rendition the story is given a new perspective and a focus on different elements for the reader/audience to consider. In 1946 Jean Cocteau adapted Madame Leprince de Beaumont’s written short story of “Beauty and the Beast” for the film, Beauty and the Beast, starring Jean Marais and Josette Day. Each of these versions offers their own unique approach to the tale and have become classics in their own right. De Beaumont’s story was written so as to have it read and enjoyed by adults and children, whereas Cocteau’s film is aimed primarily at…

The lighting for the show was well done. The spotlights on the performers were not too bright and made it so that they could be seen better while singing and acting. The coloring of the lights on some scenes kept the mood appropriate and made it feel like it was day or night. All of the props used were very well done and were painted beautifully. The backdrops and the things like the tree and door really made the show believable and immersive. The catwalk for the balcony and the fireplace was also very well done. All of the costumes in the musical were stunning. From Cinderella’s servant clothes, her ball dress, the fairy godmother’s pink, sparkly dress, and all of the townspeople’s clothes, all were beautiful and added a sense of time period. Finally, the sound for the show was good but could have been better. A few times the orchestra was louder than the singers and it was difficult to hear their voice shine through. The actors’ microphones could have been a little louder at times, but most of the times I could hear them well. In summary, the atmosphere of the show was kept very appropriate throughout the show.…

Kirk Wise and Gary Trousdale directed Beauty and the Beast, it first aired in theaters on November 22, 1991. Beauty and the Beast portrays the second scene in our movie, which depicts the ages four to ten. At this stage in our life, we begin to establish our own opinions just like when Belle decided to form her own opinion on Beast . Our lives have been long enough to cognize the world and we have a better understanding about topics. Most young children at this time in life, cherish a movie more than school. Not all children would (I for one loved school more than anything), nevertheless, most children would watch a movie and come to school the next day avid to discuss it. A vast majority of children at this age loathed school, so they would…

    Why I Chose Theatre

From working with audio, lights, painting, carving, drilling, promotion and ushering; I have had a big taste of what happens to make the (magic) of seeing a live theater show. My favorite memory of working in the scene show was carving angels. I have assisted students with the Second City Dream Team. My favorite memory of being a Second City Dream Team member was when I realized that theatre in Chicago is an extremely supportive community. When the Second City had a fire many theatres assisted the second city with classrooms and stage space so all of the magic at the Second City can still happen despite the fire. One day with the Second City Dream Team, I was ushering for Twist Your Dickens. I felt so blessed to even be there passing out flyers and seeing so many happy audience members walk through the door. I wanted to see the show more than anything and I was told if there was an open seat that I would be able to come in to see the show. I was infatuated with the set and how much detail was put into making even the set…
