My volunteer work at various theatres and studios in Chicago has been a great educational tool.
From working with audio, lights, painting, carving, drilling, promotion and ushering; I have had a big taste of what happens to make the (magic) of seeing a live theater show. My favorite memory of working in the scene show was carving angels. I have assisted students with the Second City Dream Team. My favorite memory of being a Second City Dream Team member was when I realized that theatre in Chicago is an extremely supportive community. When the Second City had a fire many theatres assisted the second city with classrooms and stage space so all of the magic at the Second City can still happen despite the fire. One day with the Second City Dream Team, I was ushering for Twist Your Dickens. I felt so blessed to even be there passing out flyers and seeing so many happy audience members walk through the door. I wanted to see the show more than anything and I was told if there was an open seat that I would be able to come in to see the show. I was infatuated with the set and how much detail was put into making even the set
happen. By having the opportunity to work at The Goodman, my life will be forever changed. The Goodman is a theatre that is full of magic on the stage and most especially with all of the people that work behind it. I have had the opportunity to work with many other theatre venues in the Chicagoland area, and I would be honored to have the opportunity to work at The Goodman. I have experience in working to create sets, I am a hard, dedicated, energetic and professional worker. I will give my all to be part of The Goodman team. I know that if I am chosen to be an intern at The Goodman I will be sure to bring with me the enthusiasm that I have had since the age of four when I first came to The Goodman.
