Violet, By Brian Crawley
The musical Violet, by Brian Crawley is a story about a girl named Violet who got her face disfigured by an axe when she was a child. I went to this production with my friend Annie who goes to West Career and Technical Academy. The ride there was filled with fun jokes and laughter so we were in a great mood when we arrived. The first thing I noticed upon entering, was that there was no theater. This school had no theater. Although this was a shock, theses students made the absolute best of that they had. Annie had told me about how the students made and designed the set themselves. They made the best production possible with what they had. In the story Violet, the author had the necessary elements of the time period. The musical was set in …show more content…
Every character stayed true to his or her role and that played believable parts. Everyone had great acting skills that enable them to tell the story. There were some choices that I loved and some that I did not. The choice to make Violet weak was great, but the choice to make her defenseless was not great. Another choice that I did not like was the tone of their voices. The two men talked downed to Violet was a greatly portrayed because it showed their insecurities and her ability to become strong. The voices of the singing was amazing. The actor who played Flick was such a talented singer I was thoroughly impressed. The actress who played Violet was also a very good singer. Although her voice was straining to hit a particular note, she still had a strong voice. The dancing and body language was great. Since the production was in a classroom, the stage and my seat were about a foot and a half apart. I was up close and personal with the actors and actresses. They had great dance numbers that were very well choreographed. Each motion had a purpose and was done with confidence, you could they had practiced these movements for quite a while. Most of the ensemble doubled playing a minor role as well as an ensemble member. Both of their parts were played out very well with a lot of dedication. Everyone was working together to make the production the best it could possibly be. This show had very clear acting choices that enhanced the viewing of it. It was very well

The cast suited well with the characters, I personally thought that Pia Miranda portrayed Josephine very well. The way she acts with excitement and humour, is outstanding and I personally think that she is a gifted actress. The rest of the cast were pleasing to watch, and were also competent at acting.…

The acting in this play was great. The actor I was looking most forward to was Brooke Shields. Honestly don’t think that she was that great. It could have just been the character of Morticia, but after it was all over I felt like she stood out the least. To be fare it could have just been that she was having a bad night though because when she was handing out autographs after the play she apologized for not doing well. The other star, Roger Rees, was pretty good. He definitely was not my favorite part of the show, but he did a good job playing Gomez. He was somewhat dry, but he had enough to keep him memorable. Adam Riegler was the young boy who played Pugsley. He did an outstanding job and unfortunately wasn’t a huge part of the show. I would have liked it if they had involved him in a few more scenes. The best part of the show was definitely Rachel Potter in the role of Wednesday. She blew everyone else out of the water in terms of her acting and singing. She was the true star of the show in my opinion. The way she acted really made the audience want things to work for her and the character Lucas. The actors Heide Blickenstaff and Adam Grupper did a good job in the role of Lucas’ parents. I feel that they did there job in being good character foils to Gomez and Morticia. Jesse Swenson was another actor that I thought did great. He played Wednesdays love interest Lucas. He did a fantastic job and was almost as good as Rachel Potter. Another role which I was disappointed in was Brad Oscar…

The producers couldn’t have hired better actors for the roles of Thomas and Victor and the script was as if it wasn’t even a script. It seemed like it just came so naturally to the characters. If someone came to me asking for examples of a movie with really good acting, I would probably recommend this movie, but otherwise. I would say not to waste your time and watch something more enjoyable, like the romantic comedy “The Wedding…

They play was quite an interesting play with its use of comedy and tragedy. The actors did a terrific job on portraying the characters. The set was small so it was much easier to see their reactions. The introduction to the play was pretty unique with those people in tight pants and glitter all over everybody in the lobby. They never broke character no matter what went on in the lobby. Later they used as prompts on stage which was pretty interesting because at times I was so into the play I forgot they were there acting as a car or a door.…

The characters were satisfactory. Although they were loud and energetic, they did not articulate their words. I could not understand anything that they were saying. I left out of the theatre knowing sixteen words: Rudolph, the, red, nose, reindeer, snow, pay, rent, moon, fuck, you, light, my, candle, Roger, and please! In fact, every line was sung. I felt like the characters were singing at me not to me. In addition, they were all over the place; the characters did not do a good job at conveying the story of Jonathon Larson, throughout the musical they kept running around, jumping, and screaming. By them doing that, it did not…

When she was being sarcastic or angry she really kept a loud volume. The actor who played Sylvie, Mckenzie, was also beyond believable. She really amped up all of her acting and stayed character throughout the whole play. Most of them stayed in character, but sometimes I see some actors crack a smile when something funny happens. Their accents were also well rounded and really sounded accurate.…

The actors themselves are quite competent are their acting and the overall movie is well done. Sean Pertwee's Macbeth was the downfall of the film. Because the interpretation of Macbeth was in such a different environment, Pertwee's Macbeth seemed too one dimensional, without range of emotion and pitch. Much of the "intensity" required by Macbeth was just non existent. Overall though the film was an good film with a creative adaption. The adaptation should have been more well thought out but other than that, it should receive a…

Of course, when I saw the actors before my eyes I was complete shocked in an effective way to see which student would play each character. Something that I enjoyed about the actors was that the two main characters, Mr. Givings and Mrs. Givings were played of people of color, which was a shocker because in the cover of the play Mrs. Giving appears to be a white woman. But, I loved the fact that they switched those race roles, it made the play overall great. I was entirely pleased with how well the actors put on the…

The characters were brought alive with their own unique traits and the acting was reflective of that. The acting made the show come alive and the audience was made to feel like it was part of the story. Eric Armstrong did an excellent job portraying the nerdy, love-struck Seymour through his tale of events. He was able to give of the impression of someone who just desperately wanted to be somebody through his acting. The audience was able to tell what Seymour was feeling or what kind of mood he was in.…

This clip was so different from English and European theater that is more common for me to watch. The costumes were so different than what English theaters costumes are like. They were very colorful and big they are more outgoing then English theater. They had a very different culture than our English culture, and they embraced hat character and they kept how they lived as part of their show. They also danced very differently than what I am used to when watching theater.…

I liked that I had to pay close attention to keep up with the story because of the scene transitions. Because of the way the movie’s story was told backwards, I was introduced to the characters and the development of them throughout the moive was abnormal compared to most movies. I found this abnormal development to be cool and entertaining, but a little annoying because it made it hard to figure out people’s true motives and intentions.…
