Being Good at Heart
Anne was a young girl, caged in her own little world. Her situation wasn’t a great one. She was faced with discrimination because of what she believed in, because she was a Jew. Regardless to what Hitler and the Nazis put her and her family through, Anne still believed that these people were good people. She believed that they were still good at heart. One can tell that Anne Frank was a very understanding and optimistic person. Many in this world come out to be optimistic as well — or try to be. No matter what, everyone really is good at heart whether if it was Hitler himself, the people right here in this school, or the celebrities that walk the same streets. Adolf Hitler was a heartless person…or was he? Several people across the globe loathe Hitler. Just the sound of his name could make somebody become pessimistic. Some people may thing he did the most dreadful, monstrous and atrocious thing to ever occur. He probably did — but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t good at heart. Hitler believed in something passionately just like anyone else could have. He thought what he was doing was right and good. He married a woman, which showed that he was capable of love. If somebody said the same thing about someone else without naming who it was, wouldn’t they say that person had a great heart? Many may still say Hitler was a gruesome person for what he had done, that he was a heartless person. However, that isn’t true since anyone can still be good at heart even if it’s deep down inside. Adolf Hitler was good at heart — just deep down. The school itself, on its own, stands to have a good heart. From fundraiser to fundraiser, this school raises thousands of dollars every year for some kind of foundation. Most recently, the school raised money from “Daffodil Days.” All the money that came from this event went to cancer research; this showed others people care about their kin that are affected. The school continues to show how compassionate it is with the discussions and meetings about bullying and how people could help the planet — every single classroom has a recycling bin. The people at this school come out to be good people. Students and teachers support each other. Just from a look over, anyone can see Good Hope is good at heart even if it carries some mistakes. Celebrities aren’t any different; they have hearts too. Many act as if they’re aliens but they’re just like any other human being. They are people; and for some reason, others are so quick to judge and be critical about the faults they make. They’re just that, faults. Anyone and everyone make mistakes. Some celebrities do end up doing drugs and drinking maybe a little too much alcohol but that does not mean they are bad people. Other celebrities even donate money to charities and foundations. These people are really, honestly, good at heart. No matter what, everyone really is good at heart whether if it was Hitler himself, the school, or the celebrities that aren’t any different. Everyone holds their own beliefs, and they could be different from yours. Simple actions of team work and showing empathy towards another gives signs of love. A person’s a person and don’t treat anyone else differently. This is what it takes to be good at heart — and it doesn’t take much. Anne Frank was right and truthful. Despite anything that happens, people really are good at heart.

If Anne Frank can see the good in things while being persecuted, I know I can. I have learned from the Holocaust that no matter who you are, what you look like, your race, religion, or anything you can think of, we are equal. Now you are probably thinking, “shouldn’t she already know that?” The Holocaust has helped me to see it in a different way. It also showed me how cruel and selfish humans can be and how cruel and selfish I can be. A lesson all humans should know is that we are one. We are equal. Anne once said, “‘I don’t think of all the misery, but the beauty that still remains,’”…
