Being a Better Manager/Supervisor First foremost, I am a mother, and being raised by an awesome mother of nine, she instilled in me one important value. “Always treat people the same way you would want to be treated.” What type of Manager/Supervisor are you? Are you or are you not, a people's person? That just one of the questions, I use to ask myself. I needed to decide what I really wanted to do. I was doing customer service at the time. One day I was shopping inside the mall for jewelry. Noticing, a sign in the window that said, Hiring. I didn’t know anything about being a manager, so I never ask. Everyone I come in contact with always seems to confide in me, I don’t know why. She began to say how tired she was and that she was short staffed, she needed some help. I started asking her questions about the position, and it went from there. In 2010, I became an assistant manager for Zale’s Jewelry Store. That was when I decide to pursue a career in management. Not knowing, in order to better yourself, you had to do things you don’t normally do. I began to notice that on the weekends. I was the only one been scheduled, I was hired so that she can have the weekends off. When, I moved here two years ago, and giving an opportunity to do something I always wanted to pursue, that is a career in management/supervisor, that’s why I am at FTCC today.
In Business 135, there are several things I have learned that are going to help me become an better Managers/Supervisors. The two important ones to me are, Leadership (Chapter 7) and Communication (Chapter 4).
First, Leadership, being a good leader builds trust by considering the “good of all” when making
