“The White House estimates that this would cost 60 billion dollars over ten years” (Jacobs). I think a lot of people are so excited about free community college that they forget that it is still going to cost money and the government is going to have to come up with it one way or another. To be frankly honest, the government is just going to raise the taxes on everyone so it can be easier to pay the 60 billion dollars, which if we think about where the money is coming from then it does not make going to community college free. Instead of the students paying start to community college now it is going to be that everyone has to pay higher taxes to the government to still pay for the cost of college. I am also afraid that if the government makes community college free than they are going to start forcing high school students to attend community college, which it just makes it high school all over again just that everyone is going to be a little …show more content…
For example, it would be exceptional if the government made going to universities cheaper because it would make it easier for a lot students to decide and go to an university instead of a community college. I know that some of my cousins and my brother settled for the community college route not because of their grades or not getting accepted to an university, but because they could not afford to go to an university at that time. Especially, being first generation college students it's harder for the students to convince their parents in paying thousands and thousands of dollars to go to an university. A lot more people would end up going to a CSU or Uc if the tuition was a lot cheaper because even with financial aid it does not cover everything. Especially if the have to live in dorms for their first year as some universities
