Big Brothers Big Sisters
Mr. Swan, I first of all would like for you to know that you are a great man, and a great principal; however, I feel that she is still just targeting me, I feel that she picks on me, there are more things that you don’t know about that goes on. Sometimes you don’t even give me an opportunity to say what is on my mind, and that is alright, it’s your school and I can’t tell you how to run it. So first off I would like to apologize for being disrespectful to you, I know you do things for the best interest of all of your students and faculty on campus. Second of all I would like to acknowledge, yes I do mess up rather often, but it really isn’t all my fault, and third and final dilemma, I have basically given up. I am not the best student in the building and I know you have many, many other students that you are trying to prevent from not messing up, and I feel sometimes I am selfish about it, and I do know you do things sometimes that seem tough to handle but in all honesty, you do it out of love for all of the students, not just one, it’s for the best interest, not just a certain few, I am also sorry for making this such a big deal, but it really does feel like she is targeting me, no matter what you or anyone else say, no one sees what really goes on inside that classroom, when she says things to me that makes me feel less than I really am. I have given up. It’s just that simple. It isn’t worth me trying anymore. I give up on caring I simply don’t, it isn’t a personal issue at this point it’s an academic issue. She doesn’t care anymore, furthermore, why should I? I shouldn’t walk into any class room and be told essentially, I am less than what I really am, so I give up, I will take

an “F” in the class and be done, because I am tired of going into a class and just feeling worthless and getting angry because I am not understanding when I am trying. It at this point is getting ridiculous. So I give up. There is no reason for me to

I approached the teacher before their next lesson and explained how the children took time to process instructions and that if they were laughing and joking about it would take afew minutes to calm down and get focused on what was required next. The teacher glared at me and then very sharply told me not to tell her how to do her job. I was mortified .I explained i was just trying to point out how they reacted and felt when she shouted at them for not instantly stopping and getting on with the next task. I apologised if she felt i had offended her. At the end of the lesson, she came over and said she was sorry for over reacting, and now realised i worked with them more than she did, and actually had a point, and she would allow time for them to settle. I feel that by me not getting into a confrontation with her made a lot of difference, and we was able to sort the problem out sensibly.…

Hello, I am your daughter, Sabra's, English teacher. I wanted to take the time to enlighten you about her class room behavior and how disrespectful she can get towards me. Don't get me wrong, Sabra is not always discourteous. She has her days where she can be a model student in class and in others she can be my worst nightmare. For the last couple of weeks, Sabra has been coming to class to sleep. When I address her to wake up, she would give me an attitude or curse at me. She says marching band is the blame for her sleeping in class. If marching band is getting in the way of her education, I believe she should reconsider her choice about being in the band. I have informed you in the past about her poor grade in my class. It's as if she doesn't try to attempt and make an effort to do the material I present to the class. I would appreciate it if you have a talk with your daughter about her classroom etiquette and how to appreciate teaching staff on a day to day basis. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my letter and take into consideration the concerns I have with your daughter.…

Once the pupils had gone for dinner I had a informal chat with the classroom teacher about each of the pupils. I showed her my notes and explained them in a bit more detail. During the meeting she also wrote notes of her own about each pupil. She asked me how I thought the lesson had gone and what I would improve. I thought the lesson went well but I did say that more of the pupils should of got the chance to plant the seeds. I also gave my opinion on one of the pupils. I said I think that pupil A needed extra help in all lesson because they were struggling with simple task. This pupil A is someone I work with each day I am there. I also suggested that the teacher watch this pupil or work with them in one lesson and check if am right about them struggling. During this meeting I…

It’s important to give a little background on the writer’s history. This is the end of my fourth year as an English teacher at Napavine Jr. Sr. High School. During my time here I have also served as the ASB advisor and as a class advisor. I transferred to Napavine because it is a small school and closer to my home. From 2004-2012, I was at a 2A high school with a population of 1,088 (grades 9-12), 56.2% low income, and a 32.9% minority population. Napavine is a 2B school with a population of 325 (grades 7-12), 39% low income and a 16.8% minority population . The principal, with whom I will be working, began as a Dean of Students during my first year in the building. He did not have his administrative credentials and worked with a mentor on…

We are parents and we are writing to inform you of a problem with AP US History 11 class. We know that you are aware that there is a problem in this class because met with you on Friday about the problem. He is not the only one that has a problem with her. We know that other people have complained about her also. Since school has started has come home and told us things that would happen in her class. We would say maybe she is just having a bad day. We tried to give her a chance because we knew that she was new to this class. We know that this is an AP class so the students in this class are the ones that care about their grades. We have read email to you and we agree with him. Changes need to be made in her class. is all about an easy class but this class has no pattern. They never know what she is going to do next. She may give them a test on something they have not even studied. They do not even have text books to use. Isn't there some kind of curriculum for an AP US History class? They will be taking the AP exam at the end of the year and she has not taught them anything that will help them with that exam. All we as parents hear is that it is good for our kids to take an AP class because if they are able to pass the AP exam at the end of the year then they will receive college credit for that class. Does it not seem like there would at least be some kind of text books the students would need? When she gives them homework she just tells them to Google it or find out the answer from a class mate. Now how would anyone know the answers because it is obvious she is not teaching them? She also calls them retarded and we do not appreciate that. When came home and told us about her pre writing the whole class up that was the last straw. Also was assigned to be the teacher that day. She did not even give him any material to teach with. I guess since she doesn’t use any material to teach with she thinks the students don’t need…

It was around this point that I began to lose my motivation to do any class work whatsoever, and my grade suffered for it. One day, Mr. Brown held me after class and told me that I had the lowest grade out of any of his students that he has ever taught. With that as my motivation, I studied long and hard to get my grade up, and in the end I had barely passed the class with a sixty-nine point eight average.…

Firstly, I began missing school a lot starting in October. I missed 20 days throughout the fall semester of junior year alone. I had lots of homework o make up due to all of my absences and Mrs. Henrey was very helpful in helping me succeed with the homework I missed. Mrs. Henrey went out of her way to help me. She would have me come into her classroom during lunch so that I would not have to sit in the cafeteria, which was very loud, to help me concentrate on homework. She also tried to help me understand what I was missing even if it was a class she was not teaching. Mrs. Henrey was an English teacher and she would repeatedly try and me with other classes such as Calculus and Childhood Development even though that was not her field of expertise. She was very helpful in keeping…

Me being the impatient but helpful person I am I said “yeah sure”. So I moved this little box that any kid in my class could have easily moved outside of her moving it herself. She stopped what she was doing at her cabinet and she showed me my final exam grade and it said 89% B+. A surprised me began smiling excited that I would pass the class with almost a B average for the year. She looked at me and said “T, you are smart. You have given me 40% effort and still somehow you still have managed to pass my class, I struggle dealing with students who are incapable but try hard every single day and you don't show me any effort and still manage to do have a decent grade…” “Why are you afraid? You are easily one of the most gifted students I have encountered and you show no effort?”. I just sat there lost and confused and wondered how she knew and wonder why I had wasted all this time not living up to my full potential, I had let my fear of failure keep me from being the best student I could be. I now look at it and regret the decisions I made in the past. Everyday i have learned to allow myself have higher expectations than I have before. There was a lesson in what my teacher said to me and I will…

I felt compelled to do something about this, I could not continue to sit around and do nothing for another 2 months. So I respectfully told the substitute to either ignore the disruptive students or kick them out of class because they were wasting class time and interfering with the learning of the students that wanted to learn. The disruptive students being immature took this as me trying to challenge the teacher and completely blew my whole comment out of proportion. This I assume embarrassed the substitute to the point where she felt the need to write me up to the disciplinary officials. I do not at all regret speaking out although having to receive the consequences.…

    My Pushover Instructor

    • 278 Words
    • 2 Pages

Since my favorite teacher Mr. Main broke his back, we ended up getting a replacement Instructor. We knew after the first few classes that the instructor was a pushover. First of all, he didn’t seem able to control the class. While the instructor was writing our homework assignment on the board, someone threw a soaked paper towel on the board next to him. As he turned around he glared at everyone in the class. Everyone in the class fell silent. Out of nowhere I heard a small chuckle on the other side of the room. Then the class laughed out loud. He had a dumbfounded look on this face and then bolted out the class room. In addition, he made some course requirements easier when a few students complained. For example, we had a course requirement to write four essays by the end of our semester. He felt like that was too much punishment so he brought the required four essays down to two essays. Also, he felt like essays shouldn’t be worth sixty percent of our grade. So he switched our assignment, quizzes, and participation percentage around with the essays. So now, our essays are worth five percent of our grade. Finally, he gave the easiest quiz we had ever taken. The quiz consisted of five questions. Three of the five questions were general elementary school math. The last two questions were about the Redskins and Ravens game last night. I honestly think this teacher is trying to get an easy paycheck. He has the rest of the year with our class so I hope he changes this attitude before I report this to the…
