A.) Introduction: The tragedies that consumed our world has devastated the African-American culture. The shooting of Trayvon Martin and the Lynching of Emmitt Till are oh so similar. it is a total shame that we have not progressed one bit in leading people into a loving non hating century. but that is not the case for these two fellow black men. My first evidence is that racism is very much alive. Secondly how both murders that killed both of these young boys weren't convicted even with evidence. And lastly We have not come the least bit far. instead of lynchings there are shootings.…
Today, the number of deaths including black people in custody has continued and black people are disproportionally stopped and searched on streets. After the case of Macpherson life for the black community was expected to change, however to some it is known that the changes have been extremely disappointing. Black people feel they are less likely to get a decent job, they feel they are treated disproportionally by police, by being stopped and searched and within communities (Janet et al,…
The simplistic talk about how this is all the result of white racism misses the scope and nature of the problem. The vast majority of interracial violent crime is black on white. But most violent crime is actually intra-racial (i.e. black on black or white on white). Still, blacks are far more likely to die from homicide; half of murder victims are black, which may partly explain why black men in prison have a higher life expectancy than black men out of prison. And this leaves out all of the challenges — educational, economic, etc. — facing black men that don't show up in crime statistics.…
In my personal opinion most African American people are actually pushing into a life of crime due to their surroundings during their upcoming. Based on the article by “Race and Policing By Gene Demby” discussing the specific communities populated by African American that being targeted by violence and crime. According to the author gun violence is epidemiologist a disease, examining the way it spread. According to the article criminologist say crime tends to fluctuate from year to year. In my opinion, this can be true, but I think that not all African American are criminals, everyone makes their own decision, to become a good person or a bad person. Society can push them to become criminals, the lack of work for African American or the slave…
Hampton, R. L. & Yung, B. (1996). Violence in communities of color: Where we were, where we are, and where we need to be. In R. L. Hampton, P. Jenkins, & T. P. Gullotta (Eds.), Preventing violence in america. pp. 53-86. Thousand Oaks, CA: Sage.…
The article “Mapping Police Violence” says that “Police killed at least 102 unarmed black people in 2015”. And “37% of unarmed people killed by police in 2015’. Despite of being only 13% of the U.S population. Police brutality connects to racism, But it’s towards African Americans, Racism has always been an issue for blacks. It causes a dramatic impact on Black communities and lives because Our leaders fought for our rights such as, Martin luther king Jr. , Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, Harriet Tubman and etc.…
This year, 1904, there has been seventy-six of our people have been killed, hanged or alleged offense without a legal trial. This violence need to be stopped for the sacks of our children, our wife and for every african american out there that is in the shadows hiding from everyone else. Our children don’t need to learn how to kill someone, if the violence keeps going like that then our children are going to end killing people. We want our children to learn new things that they never seen before, we want them to become someone better in the life, so they could make history that everyone in America would be talking…
Introduction: Society has this perception that it is other races why crime occurs. Some people blame these crimes on black-on-black crimes, or Hispanics-on-Hispanics crimes. Being that crime seems to be predominantly an intra-racial event involving victims and offenders of the same race; will this type of destruction ever come to an end?…
Imagine waking up every morning hungry. Rather than just driving down to your local fast food spot, you can not even afford a dollar hamburger from McDonald’s. Imagine falling asleep to the sound of gunfire, rather than the sound of crickets. These conditions sound like the middle of a war zone or third world country, but to the contrary, this is the environment that many black high school students live in. It may seem a little inappropriate to start a paper off with rap lyrics, but to properly represent the voice of young black males, it is extremely appropriate. The fact is that the young black male in today’s society is angry and resentful towards white people. The main reason is for the treatment of their slave ancestors. Seeing successful whites while they are struggling in the slums of America is not fair to the African-American community. Although there have been numerous pleas from black support groups like the NAACP for fair and equal treatment have fallen on deaf ears for these young men. As a result of this many of them have turned to crime. The rate at which black makes are being trapped in the prison system is very alarming. Today African Americans make up 62% of imprisoned drug offenders, although they are only 13.5 of the national population. One out of every 115 black makes enters prison each year on a felony drug conviction, compared with one out of every 1,150 white men…
Race- related incidents are occurring each day, so there are some wrongdoings in our society. Black males are always treated with disrespect. They both was well-known sports player on campus. There are always privileges given to white Americans and this has to change. It is a crime to treat black males differently than white males. They should not have treated the black football so wrong. Black are targeted as criminals and are represented as dirty, foul, and lazy. Treated someone bad while they are unconscious should be a crime. However, the system should treat people the same and sentenced them to the same sentence. Overall, great discussion board assignment and I agree with your…
"Do you believe there is a connection between race and crime in America?” “Do you believe the Criminal justice system is racist?”…
Everybody has been taught to hate black, whether its black ice, a black cat, or black plague to the black sheep, the verdict is already been handed down, everything black is bad. That’s what history has told the world. From the days of old, to modern times, black has been associated with death, wrong, or misfortune. So it’s no wonder that in today’s society we associate everything bad with black. From a walk in the park, to a drive down the lakefront to quiet bonding with family, those peaceful and contempt situations can be upheaved in an instant by crime, and for those thought to be the perpetrators, there’s the constant threat of harassment. But although those serene moments can be disturbed by…
This will be a very long but necessary and thoughtful post detailing current event issues regarding police, racism, and black on black crime in America and their correlation. Specifically regarding the LaQuan McDonald case (may your soul rest in peace) and the city of Chicago. I'm not activist, revolutionary, and I don't even have a college degree, yet, but I do have passion, a voice, and means to articulate myself to those willing to listen/read as I exercise my right to the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.…
But I think it is posible to change it and if we are to do so I think education and conversation are key words. We have to educate our police on the fact that not every black man is a gangster out to kill you and we need to talk about the fact that these shootings are happening and what we can do about it. A great way of taking part in the converstion is joining the BlackLivesMatter organisation and show that theres a lot of people out there who see the problem and who sees that it needs to change. So go out and make som noice because this needs to…
To begin with racial stereotyping is one of the biggest problem in America. For example Amadou Diallo was a young black man who was shot in 1999 when New York City policemen opened fire on him because they thought he was reaching for a weapon. The policemen thought because he was black he was pulling out a gun. This is not the 1st time an event like that happen! Like with Michael brown who was also killed by a policemen who saw him walking with a hood on and saw he was black and also said he thought he was up to trouble and reaching for a gun and shot him. Me as an African American myself I was not pleased hearing and reading about these events. The stereotype about black people and crime is very wrong! Not all black people are the same. Yes some do make bad dictions but don’t we all. That shouldn’t mean you should stereotype all black people as bad people. Also an…
