Egypt’s President Mohammed Morsi called for a national dialogue to solve the current political crisis during a live televised address to the nation Thursday. His comments follow overnight clashes between his supporters and opposition protesters outside the presidential palace in Cairo, which claimed the lives of at least six people and left hundreds more wounded.
For national news… Unseasonable warmth across the country this week likely has sealed the deal: 2012 will go down as the warmest year in U.S. history, according to data released Thursday by the National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C.
For regional news… nobody would murder their wife on the family farm, stick her in a septic tank and then later give friends free access to roam the land and police to search it, according to the defense argument for Douglas J. Howery. An Audrain County jury didn’t believe that and on Thursday, found Howery, 60, of Springfield, guilty of first degree murder in the 1992 slaying of Betty Ann Howery on their Annada farm.
