Campus life When I was in high school I could not wait to graduate and attend college. I was excited to finally see what this “campus life” was all about. I was also like most teenagers, and couldn’t wait to be free from my parents’ house. Immediately after graduation I kept a mental countdown till the day that I would move into my dorm. My expectations were high and I was excited to be in my new surroundings. However living on campus was a big difference than living at home and was something that would take time getting used to. I learned firsthand the pros and cons of campus living. One of the advantages to living on campus is that you have all the resources you need at an arm’s length. Campus provides free Wi-Fi and computer usage. This is especially important for people who aren’t lucky enough to have these things at home. Also, the campus library stays open later than most, which makes it convenient for late night studying and last minute homework. Most importantly these resources are no more than a ten minute walk away. Unlike living at home where you might have to travel a distance to get the tools you need, campus provides all of this to you. Therefore there is no excuse not to get work done. Campus is like a small community, there are a place to work out and a center court if you just want to chill with friends outside of the dorm. Almost everything you need can be found on campus, pertaining to both school and fun. That being said campus life would seem like a good thing except all of this becomes too confined after a while. The biggest disadvantage that I’ve come across living on campus is the bus service. If you don’t have a car the bus is the only means of transportation. Going to school in a “college town” means you’re pretty much in one huge area and can start to feel very confined. The bus services are very slow and the times that it runs are very inflexible. If you want to go to
