Maxine may experience a lot of no’s, but she take it as a determination to get a yes. This shows effective policy reform changing skills. She experience big variations in who she serves. It may be challenging to have different approaches with children opposed to parents, and different from how to approach the elderly. Doughty Park is an urban environment they may be influenced by lack of motivation. It can be challenging to help others who lack drive, but she seems to empower them by giving them a voice and making their presence power in decision making for the community. Because social programs are hard to be funded, she may have a challenge finding grants and policies to help them. There is a drive and passion in what she does for the community, but she may experience caregiver’s burn…
Mr. Mitchell, I am writing you as a citizen of Sanger, and as a Registered Nurse currently pursuing a BSN through the University of Phoenix. I believe that we share a common interest in improving the state of our community. I have looked into your personal website and have seen that you have a great interest eradicating gang activity and hunger in our community of Sanger. I commend you for bringing in extra police forces from nearby cities to combat gangs. I also see your involvement in the many community food drives and frequently bringing in the Community Food Bank into Sanger to provide free food for our citizens in need of food assistance. You…
As for service to the school and community, Tiger worked with a program called Connect Hartsville. This involved working with local businesses to help them connect to people through the use of social media. Last year he tutored a fellow student who was struggling in several classes. He is currently volunteering in our IT Department and serving as a tutor for Computer Science classes. Additionally, Tiger is working with a group called Tech Talk - a group of students who offer seminars in the local community to those who need help learning more about new…
At the level of Steve’s family, his father instilled a hardworking ethic into him and Steve’s attitude to work has been influenced by this. In addition, Steve has two young children who make demands on his time and energy, his house requires a lot of alterations and DIY takes up much of Steve’s time. At family level, one possible intervention might be for Steve to spend less time on his DIY work enabling him to relax more in the evenings and at the weekends. (Finlay et al.,…

“Change within a community comes when vision meets hard work and persistence" (Claudine Heizer.) When he does something he is very determined to get it done, he won't leave business unfinished! Rob Dyrdek is a very charitable man! He enjoys donating to charities and builds skate parks for kids out there who don't have one in their community! What I love the most is that he will go out and give big black trash bags full of stuff he really just doesn't need that includes: Clothes, Shoes, and other pieces of clothing or accessories that he has laying around! Also he will go up to a random homeless person and offer to take him out for food or give him money and I don't mean the average dollar or two I mean about a hundred dollars, more or less, which is really kind! What the homeless person does with it is their problem but the point is Rob isn't afraid to "throw his money around" as many people view it as! I see it as him being a very giving person! Dyrdek has a positive, care-free outlook on life which is quite inspiring.…
Later that year, my mom volunteered my dad to help out, by watching the children at Hughes Elementary School. After that, he started helping people, who are less mobile, out by shoveling their driveways and mowing their yards. He lectures me by always uttering, “Do anything for those who need help, so one day someone can return the favor.” In addition he started doing more things with the community to help the people who live in Marshall. Even though he cannot work, he is always looking for a way to help others become more successful.…
I have been an active participant in community service opportunities with clubs within my school, such as the National Honors Society and Key Club. I also volunteer at the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library weekly. I will continue this work by joining many clubs and organizations that are dedicated to community service. I also plan to continue to volunteer at the library.…
“In order to be the most effective, we have found that being focused, concentrated and dedicated to a small number of tasks gives us the most impact on the jobs that you are doing” ("United Way Give. Advocate. Volunteer.” 2011). The main focus of the United Way staff members is to put together an annual campaign to raise money for funding, put together and maintain a volunteer workforce, promote media participation at special events and function as a team to achieve the maximum accountability standards. The key roles of the Board of Directors is to guarantee that the organizations outcomes are met and to provide economic liability to maintain the trust of the…
Cyberbullying has had such a negative effect on people of all ages. It has lead to many fatal events, especially suicide. So many young people end their lives, because they have been bullied over the internet. According to CyberBullyHotline.com, "20% of kids cyberbullied think about suicide, and 1 in 10 attempt it" and "4500 kids commit suicide each year." Worst of all, the bully doesn't admit to his crime, and pretends like it never happened.…
My most significant contribution to a community, without any doubt in my mind, has been to both of my local Boys and Girls Club of America branches. I first began to go to the Boys and Girls Club shortly after the divorce of my parents. In the beginning, I was at my lowest point, until I learned many of my peers were in a similar situation. From that point on, I helped the staff at the Club, mentored younger kids, and provided assistance to anyone who needed it. Quickly, I became the Club’s youth of the month, and in 2013 became the Boys and Girls Club of Zionsville’s youth of the year, the highest honor a Boys and Girls Club member can receive. In the Club, everyone had forged a bond of understanding with one another. In some way, we were…
The purpose of this team is to provide food, clothing, and spiritual leadership to those who are less fortunate. The team is comprised of church members, missionaries, and volunteers from Savannah and the surrounding areas. The team has a duel leadership. It is lead by Pastor Johnathan Brown and his wife, Sharon Brown. Their co-pilots in this endeavor are another husband wife team who moved to Savannah about a year and a half ago, Brother Allen Osborne and Sister Donna Osborne. These are the only four steady members to this team. Everyone else comes and goes as they are needed. Pastor Johnathan and Brother Allen pick up and drop off all volunteers and clients. Together with their spouses they plan and prepare meals, sort through clothing, visit the despondent and ill, and provide emotional support and moral guidance to the people surrounding them. They make no judgments on anyone 's life style and offer moral and emotional support for those in need.…
This current events article is about a middle aged man named Gregory Kloehn, who builds mobile homes, using less than $50 by finding recycled items that other people throw out. These shelters provide a safe, warm, and dry place for homeless who are stuck out in the streets. Despite the seemingly cheap price, it made a large difference to the homeless people, who promised that, if and when they got out of the streets, they would give the recycled home to another, thus continuing the…
First and foremost, I am a perfectionist and aim for the best in everything I do. Yet imperfections or mishaps don’t stress me out in the slightest, instead they motivate me to find what works and quickly rebound. My experiences in Trenton and Lawrenceville give me a dual perspective that is directly applicable to the service Bonner does. Yet, while I do have hopes to travel outside this country and do some kind of service, all of my traveling has been done around the east coast. In having a small but religious family I’ve become very flexible in collaborating with multiple personalities on behalf of many charity and fundraising projects with my church.…
