Since the beginning of the book, most readers could tell that Yossarian was going to have a troubling and hard time in this war. One of the first thoughts of Yossarian was that he was just a scared little man who did not want to go to war, but had to because he was drafted. According to Heller, Yossarian was having a big problem with the enemies. They were trying to kill him, but Clevinger was trying to prove that everyone else was having that problem.
