Pearl Harbor was a big attack that the U.S was not expecting and it was very sad that the enemy had won and a lot of people died. Thousands of people died in Pearl harbor. President Roosevelt said that this attack was a scarfull attack. The Pearl Harbor Attack started In December,7, 1941. In Arizona, Honolulu in the ocean in the morning. It started in the morning and the U.S actually knew it was gonna happen. Because they cracked the japanese code and the warning was sent from washington. But the warning was sent later than they expected. The radar located the japanese plane way before the attack came. But the U.S thought that it was a regular air flight. According to The HIstory Channel The attack was terrible over 2,400 people were were hurt and over 1,000 planes that were damaged. The
Battleship that the arizona uss fought in had got hit over four times by the japanese bombs. There were 1,117 crew men that died. And the military band had died too. The attack was only for a couple minutes, but it felt like it lasted for hours. Japan had so many bombs that it took 18 ships down and more.
And sadly Japan had won the attack, but they weren’t satisfied. They wanted to do more, but they didn’t.
According to Judith Dupre the Pearl Harbor was during the world war II time period. The Pearl Harbor was one of the craziest attacks also. In the attack some people were falling into the water. People were falling the water because the had sunken when it got hit. The Structure was very good and it was sad that it was taken down. Later on they got most of the ship out of the water. There wasn’t much of the ship that got pulled up there’s still a little bit in the water.
The reason Japan attacked the pearl harbor was because of natural resources. Japan didn’t have oil or steel so they got jealous. Japan wanted our resources to survive to become powerfull. Since Japan planned the attack for over two months. Japan thought they were the most powerful and could wipeout the naval base. Japan did wipeout a little bit of the naval base and it was bad. But the U.S.S of Arizona had a little bit of resources, but the rest was in the water.
There were three ships that had sunk in the attack. There were so many ships damage that no one could repair. There was a ship from raleigh that were damaged really bad. It was only a few ships that survived, but was really messed up. Some ships crashed into big rocks on the side of the ocean. Some ships blew up from the bombs. The ships were well structured, but just couldn’t handle all those bombs.
President Roosevelt was not happy about what happen.
He made sure that everyone heard his speech. He put out a message that was really important. It was about Japan and about their empire. His speech was great and had a lot of detail. And he has a famous quote about the attack that is really good. “This was a day of infamy,” said by President Roosevelt. It was very sad and he wanted the attack to be forgetful.
The memorial of the Pearl Harbor is well built. The memorial was built in 1980 in arizona on the water. The memorial is white and big and it looks like a naval base. The color of the memorial is white because it sticks out. The memorial pays respect to the crew man that died. And how the U.S tried their best to fight japan. It took a long time to get the memorial to be fixed perfectly.
The Pearl harbor ship had sunk in the water and that’s where the monument is at on the water. And the building is white so it stands out in the water. The monument has windows so people can see the other ships while they are inside. The Building is really big you can’t miss it so it draws your attention and they built the memorial on the water to the ship and where exactly it
happen.
The pearl harbor deserve to be memorialized because the attack was really important. During that time because even though the U.S didn’t they tried their best to fight japan and that shows a lot of dignity. The pearl harbor memorial was a dedication to the ship too. The ship was well known for being big and everyone loved it. The Pearl Harbor was an main event we will not forget it and we still honor everyone.
