Dental hygiene is defined as the study of preventive oral healthcare involving the practice of preventing oral disease and promoting overall health. Dental hygienists are licensed ancillary dental care professionals specializing in cleaning and providing advice for caring for the teeth. Said process of care involves five steps. Assessment involves a systematic gathering of data to identify any issues with the client that require attention. Within the dental hygienist \’s profession, there are a total of six interrelated roles with individual responsibilities: (1) The Administrator or Manager evaluates and changes any programs of oral healthcare or education, using data and protocol skills to oversee and assign responsibilities to other personnel. (2) A Change Agent is responsible for implementing the correct processes and evaluating any success or failure in said processes. The agent utilizes interpersonal skills to create a dynamic atmosphere to select necessary mechanics used to promote the client’s well-being. (3) Clinicians use the general dental hygienist’s process of care while providing the clients with knowledge about the human needs. They collaborate with additional healthcare professionals while working. (4) A Client Advocate will strategize plans that will lead to the right decisions about the client’s health. They also apply legal and financial leverage to protect the oral care necessary for the consumers. (5) Educators are also known as Oral Health Promoters. The test comprises of 280 questions which an individual will be given 4 hours and 15 minutes to complete; With an additional 45 minutes, students will be given an optional tutorial before the test, provided one optional break in the middle of the testing process and asked to take a survey after completion. The questions are heavily related to natural sciences, quantitative reasoning, and reading comprehension. A breakdown of the test reveals seven total components of the testing procedure: The optional tutorial (15 minutes), Survey of Natural Sciences (90 minutes), Perceptual Ability Test (60 minutes), Optional Break (15 minutes), Reading Comprehension Test (60 minutes), Quantitative Reasoning Test (45 minutes), and the Optional Post Test Survey (15 minutes).
