Cheer Club Research Paper
Freshman year my best friend and I made an impulse decision to go to the high school cheer clinic. As a way to make friends and to make both are moms happy, since they were both cheerleaders . After the first day of clinic we were both hooked. Cheerleading to most is full of popular girls that are selfish, snobby, and don't have a sense of morality. But to me and my team we are nothing like that. My team is a mismatched group of girls that found a love in cheering on other sport teams. Spending upwards of 8 hours with the same twenty six girls a week makes anybody to become incredibly close and that is what I have gotten to. We may fight but, with these groups of girls my life would of never been the same. We are all there for eachother no …show more content…
Every single one them that has come my way with their problems or just need somebody to make them feel loved I have given them that. Because highschool hard and everybody need somebody to lean on when things get tough. They don’t need somebody who just patches over the moment but, somebody who can turn their life in a more positive direction. The girls on my team have come to call me mom as a joke because, I have motherly spirit. I wouldn't trade any of them for the world. As hard is it’s going to be to leave my team next year I hope that the love I have shown them and the love have shown can in some sense of the way change their life , my life, and other people life for the better. The world always could need a little bit more love and I feel our cheer team and the impact we have on each other could change it for the people we touch throughout our life. We have taught each other how to love and be loved. How to help others and to just how to live life a little happier. I can't wait to be able to touch new people life in college, at work, or wherever I may go. I may not be able to see how they impact the world but, I think they are capable of great things and I know that at some point their life they will remember and I will remember them and that's enough for me to say that they will infact show

“Real leadership is leaders recognizing that they serve the people that they lead.” This quote, spoken by Pete Hoekstra, speaks volumes to the true essence of what it means to be a leader. Leadership is all about the people. Many people incorrectly assume that being a leader means that the people you lead are there to serve you. This presumption could not be more inaccurate. Being a leader means serving your teammates and being worthy of their respect and cooperation. I believe that Hoekstra’s quote applies to all forms of leadership- from being a captain of a sports team to being a Lead Scholar.…

    Essay On NFL Cheerleaders

In the past three years, the NFL has faced a multitude of lawsuits dealing with the unfair payment of NFL cheerleaders. Multiple different articles support the cheerleaders, agreeing that an average of a $1,000 salary each year is unfair. However, other articles are against a higher payment, claiming that cheerleaders work because they enjoy the sport, rather than for the money. While Megan McArdle’s article, “NFL Cheerleaders Don’t Do it for the Money” uses informal diction, comparisons to other jobs, and concession to the opposition to support the claim that the cheerleaders do not deserve to be paid more, “Who Do We Under-Compensate?”, by Ira Boudway, uses a more formal diction, statistics, and concession to the other side of the argument to support the opposite.…

I am a High School Varsity Cheerleader. Yes, one of those girls who prisses around in a short skirt, ponytail bobbing from side to side and a grin the couldn't possibly get any bigger. I might be recognized as a bobbsy air head who stands on the side lines, looks pretty while only responding to the commands "Ready? Ok!" Well, believe it or not I'm not one of THOSE girls. I'm just like every other athlete breaking a sweat to become the best. My senior year of high school I made the Varsity Cheerleading squad. If that wasn't enough I wanted more. I wanted to be the person every girl envied. I wanted to be the captain. If that were to happen I had to prove that I was a well rounded girl who excelled at being responsible, has dedication, teamwork,…

Now if you’ll excuse me, i’m taking your man, and later the title of ‘cheer captain’” I grabbed Isaac's hand and turned away from her walking to the tops of the bleachers. “You’re a fiery little thing aren't you?” He laughed and laid his arm around my shoulders. Asriel looked up at us and stared, as I smiled and grabbed his hand making sure she could see. “You know, she's always jealous. Even when no one does anything wrong. It drives me insane.” he frowned a bit and i felt my heart drop. “You should change that Isaac, you’re handsome, so smart, athletic and funny. You deserve so much more. She’s a witch, to you and everyone else.” I turned to look at him and he was already staring at me. “I- i’m sorry if i offended you Isac, it’s ju-” He cut…

An aspect of college that I have found exciting is the school pride. I expected to see everyone on campus focused on whatever it is their goal is at Polk State but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw how amped up everyone got when there was a school function like club rush, spirit week, or even a basketball game. This small campus had me fooled that no one would care or bat an eye at school related activities but it seems like thats what this school thrives on, it reminds me of the same type of camaraderie you would find at FSU on a football game-day. Club rush and spirit week were the two things that got me the most excited about being a student at Polk State, not only were they bringing all the students together to mingle and make new friendships but it was fun.…

When the season began, we did not have a coach to lead us, so we practiced apace with the Varsity squad. A few weeks into the season, the Varsity coach found us a mentor that would lead us. As a few more weeks went by, our coach started picking up on more activities, which was too much for her to handle so she left, and we were once again without a coach. The team began to fall apart and it became very stressful for all of us. After the first three months of cheering, we had lost 8 girls on the team. Throughout those three months, my…

I never realized how much I relied on my team to push myself and to become a better cheerleader for them. That is something I have the utmost gratitude for. Although I rely on them a great amount, this same support must be reciprocated from me. For example, if I diminish my job, then nothing can be accomplished. We all ultimately depend on each other for guidance, wisdom, and trust.…

Participating on the Sutton High School cross country team has been one of the most rewarding yet stressful experiences of my life. For the past five years the Sutton cross country team has been a second home to me and season after season I return thirsting to vanquish a competitive fire. Although I'm ecstatic about competing this year, I was not always this happy about running. Five years ago I decided to try out for a sports team that involved less hand eye coordination (seeing how I have none) and tried out for the cross country team at my school. Almost immediately did I find out that a simple task like running could become much more strenuous not only on my legs and lungs but on the mind. While my body adjusts to the challenges of dirt…

Football is not too dangerous to be played in high school. Football is a popular sport with half a million injuries nationally. 4 out of every 1000 high school football exposures resulted in an injury and 8 of out of every 1000 collegiate football exposures resulted in injuries so that means that even if it’s played in high school or college levels there is still a risk of injuries. High school football players have a greater proportion of getting season ending injuries as in fractures and concussions. High levels of ankle and knee injuries are most common when playing football. But to avoid these injuries it’s recommended that players condition their ankles and knees more, and a change at protecting the more vulnerable body parts. To make…

Scholar athletes deserve to be given special treatment because we have to go above and beyond more than the average student. There are times that as a student athlete that you will have to miss class due to road trips. When I was a freshman, I was assigned two papers in one day and they were both due the very next day, because I had to leave for a basketball road trip and we would have been gone the entire week and I would be missing the due date that was assigned for each one of the assignments. My teachers did not accept emailed assignments and only accepted hard copies. Now on that particular day I did not get out of class until twelve, had practice from…
