these restaurants, your anticipation level may become unbearable to handle because both restaurants have high popularity and long, time consuming lines. In the line at Chick-fil-A you feel anxious to get your food, open your bag, and take the first bite of the warm buttery bread with the crisp pressure cooked chicken and the two perfectly placed dill pickles in between. Similar, at Sonic you get excited for their many ice cold flavored slushes and drinks, and smothered to perfection chili coney dogs or all American satisfying cheeseburger with onion rings. The location of both Sonic and Chick-fil-A is quite pleasing because it is placed in a building every scholar and worker should know and recognize because it is built more or less in the middle of the campus. Having the advantage of both fast food restaurants on campus, so close to each other, gives students more time to focus on class assignments rather than how far and how long it will take to have lunch at a food venue off-campus. When in a hurry, these restaurants offer the public a chance to have their food on-the-go so people are able to move forward with their day. However, due to their high demands and popularity, the speedy customer service may be jeopardized and become more of an inconvenience compared to the other food options. Being a certified fast food restaurant, there are a plethora amount of expectations that result from not just managements, but the customers.
The customers expect that their food is freshly prepared, have a good quality taste, and above all be ready in a fashionable amount of time. Students and staff do not want to spend the little time they have waiting in lines because being involved in a university can be very timing consuming and challenging to organize schedules. Chick-fil-A and Sonic are known nationwide, which gives them both a lot of recognition and acknowledgment. With that being said, many people want to encounter with their supplements daily and the speedy service and great customer service can be reduced. This misfortune can be from numerous, such as the rush of orders, pressure of unhappy customers, confusion of orders, or new employment. Nonetheless, when things are taken under control the services become incredible and satisfying. The employees at Chick-fil-A are friendly and helpful with menu selections while their attitudes are engaging. Very much like Chick-fil-A, Sonic employees greet you with a smile, are patient, and make sure your order is made to perfection and with great
quality. The quality of food when eating at Sonic is a great aspect. It is made to order and can be arranged any way you wish. It is true the food comes from a fast food place, but the taste and value of the food exceeds the stereotype of other fast food restaurants. The portions of combination meals are larger than the average size, and they tend to fill you up, cooked fresh every time you order, and satisfy the taste of a decent mean. Other on-the-go food places may deliver you food that could essentially be cold and prepared earlier that day, such as Chick-fil-A. This establishment uses special seasonings and cooks their food in a pressure cooker with peanut oil, which gives Chick-fil-A’s food its unique taste. Some of the flavor may be lost when worker, at times, seem to pre-make their chicken sandwiches, place them in a foil bag, and leave it in a heated oven until the next customer orders that food item. This method of saving time is not the best way to keep food fresh for customers to eat, but when made completely new the taste of seasonings and peanut oil brings back the reasons why customers always return. With both establishments having such high zest in their foods, the variety they offer is what distinguishes difference between them. Variety in the menus at Sonic and Chick-fil-A vary vastly. Chick-fil-A offers only chicken but rich sharp quality chicken would not be able to find anywhere else on campus. In contrast, Sonic offers about everything from hamburgers to corn dogs to hot fudge sundaes to malts; the basic items you would receive at a ‘50’s drive-in. The Chick-fil-A campus location has the bottom line basic foods that Chick-fil-A has to offer such as chicken sandwich, chicken nuggets, waffle fries, salads and beverages, but does not offer any food combinations or value menus like that of its neighbor Sonic, or any other non-campus Chick-fil-A. The Sonic value menu includes small portions of sides and main courses all for only one dollar each. Some may question whether or not the sizes given from the value menu are too small while others may find the servings ideal. The remaining options the menu offers tends to be a bit expensive but it complements the quality of the food and is overall worth it. Luckily, if you come at a certain time during the day you can engage in the different specials both Sonic and Chick-fil-A has. Chick-fil-A and Sonic are both huge on sales and promotions that make pricing adaptable for college students and staff. Sonic has become known for what they call “Happy Hour” that is between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. daily. This special is when all drinks and slushes are half off and what a great deal that is. This huge promotion gives UNM scholars a chance to grab any drink to their pleasing, which may not be offered anywhere else for a reasonable price. As for Chick-fil-A their specials do not have as much as Sonic, but still gives everyone to grab a drink for a small amount of money. Instead of drinks half off, they have “32 oz. drinks for 32 cents”. This is an advantage of Chick-fil-A because students and faculty members can buy a descent sized drink with just a quarter, a nickel, and a few pennies. The university has given scholastics the opportunity to use Lobo Cash, money that is on a person’s Lobo ID card, where ever it is accepted, such as Chick-fil-A. Accepting Lobo Cash is more convenient and helpful to this business because instead of handing paper money and coins, they just take the card and with a quick swipe the order is paid for and on to the next customer with a steady pace.
Although Sonic and Chick-fil-A have many differences in food that satisfy various taste buds , over all they each have something that the other doesn’t, which helps the balance of business. Sonic is a tasty, quick option for a student in a rush whom may possibly want a Dr. Pepper with vanilla flavor, a cheeseburger and a side of onion rings. Chick-fil-A offers some of the finest chicken you will find around campus and allows you to have the simple pleasure of a coke for a descent price. When comparing the menus and prices of the two similar eating establishments there will always be a distinction, but for the quality of Chick-fil-A’s high class chicken and the convenience of a dollar order of fries or hamburger from Sonic, you can’t go wrong with either choice. The beauty of having each restaurant so near to each other is that you don’t have to choose just one, but of course the choice would have to be up to you, the customer.
