Hand washing is the most important infection control measure to prevent illness in yourself and the children you care for in child care setting (Californian childcare health programme 1998 pg 26).Hand washing is the primary tool that childcare workers have to prevent the spread and protect childcare workers and their children from illness (under the preschool regulations of 2006 part 4 27. Child care workers are responsible to ensure that steps are taken to prevent spread of infections and that children are taught health care routines.
How to wash hand the right way for children:
1. Use warm water (not cold or hot) when you wash your hands.
2. Use whatever soap you like. Some soaps come in cool shapes and colours this may enhance the child to wash their hands more, but whatever kind gets them scrubbing is the kind they should use.
3. Work up some lather on both sides of the hands, the wrists, and between fingers. Wash
