Choosing a Successor
Paul is a 62-year-old administrator of the Multispecialty Ambulatory Care Center. He is planning on retiring one year from now and wishes to start training a successor. He has three possible candidates for the position. The Center is a medium size facility that currently serves an average of 80 patients a day. The Center was at one time in a senior citizen community and recently the community has changed to a more ethnically oriented community. With the two backgrounds, previously studied in college shows that she has the education necessary to fulfill the new leadership position at the center. She always keeps up on the continuing education required for the job, showing progress and efforts needed to accomplish barriers. She increased the reimbursement figures by implementing electronic medical records in her department. It was a difficult task, but she is good with technology. She has an innovative personality which makes her a good candidate for the position. She shows continuous efforts to learn and grow within her current position. His active participation, good attitude, and good working relationships will work in favor of the direction in which the clinic would like to go. Although Felipe will have to undergo a transition into being at the clinic more often and managing staff members. He has no outside distractions and has proven to be a self-starting hard worker that will take the time to develop the necessary administrative qualities that are required for the clinic to pursue its ultimate goals. Felipe has an advanced degree that puts him at a seniority over his peers for the job. Another key factor that makes Felipe best qualified for the position is the fact that he has a relationship with the surrounding neighbors this can be very important because the Clinic’s mission has changed to focus more on ethnic groups. With Felipe being close to the neighbors he might be able to bring in potential clients. He will be able to have a positive influence on the Hispanic community and be to open door to new patients. Another plus is that being bilingual can be very helpful because he is able to communicate with the community which in return can break that ethic wall because they can see him and be able to related. I believe when there is a language barrier is very difficult for be able to reach out into the ethnic
