Lina and Doon have found the only way out of Ember, and the mayor of Ember is hogging all the food from the citizens. “LINA RUN!” says Doon. As the guards spot Lina, she runs away. Will she escape? Find out in the City of Ember by Jeanne Duprau. Will Lina and Doon escape, or will the food hogging mayor stop them from leaving. Will Lina and Doon leave their family behind and go to a new city? The City of Ember has many similarities and differences between the novel and the film; however the movie was a more entertaining experience.
The movie and book are the same because Lina and Doon escape in both of them. It is important to keep these things the same because sometimes the book is a little bit different, but they can not be about a whole

On the other hand, some of the differences between the book and the movie are the followings: the Golden Carp was left out compared to the written literature. In the book, the Golden Carp was God-like to Antonio where he was constantly going back and forth between the beliefs of God and the ways of the Golden Carp. When Antonio sees the Golden Carp for the first time, he starts to question his own religion. However, in the movie, there was no recognizable alternative religion that forced Antonio to question his religion. Also, the second spell cast on the Tellez family ranch was omitted from the movie. In the book, Mr. Tellez goes to Gabriel’s house to ask for help from Ultima to lift up the curse. Another, difference in the movie is the further development of Narciso’s character. Narciso was a young man whose wife died early, who had a gift for growing in a hidden house with a garden. Also, when Tenorio kills Narciso is raining instead of snowing. As a result, movies based on books…

The movie does not introduce a sibling,Hannah's brother Aaron who was the one who hid the afikoman for everybody to find in the book and Hannah mentions him throughout he book seeing someone I think a guard , that reminded her of someone that she couldn't remember that had blue eyes that she remembered loving very much. Her grandpa talks about the devil's arithmetic at the beginning of the movie and in the book it is not mentioned until close to the end of the book. They do not mention or refer to Hannah as chaya in any of the movie at all. When the guys try to escape from the camp in the movie none of them get away they are hanged and in the book the butcher gets away and at the end of the book is when it happens not like in the movie where it was towards the beginning. The darkness within and around The City of Ember depicts an incomprehensible image and setting of despair. From the opening “In the City of Ember, the sky is always dark… When the lights were off as they were between the hours of nine at night and six in the morning, the city was so dark that people might as well have been wearing blindfolds,” (4). This immense lackluster environment is due to the ancient generator which just isn’t able to produce anymore, coupled with the depletion of supplies. This demonstrates that Ember’s situation is bleak forcibly plummeting quickly into the abyss. Initially, it wasn’t this way; the air was clean, the light bright and plentiful, supplies were abundant. Lina and Doon must overcome their gripping fear…
