Coast Guard Narrative Essay
Career narrative My career narrative is to join the coast guard and hopefully become a rescue swimmer. I don’t really know if that’s what I want to do yet because that is a tough job to have. I do hope to have a final decision by the time I graduate. Although I have always wanted to become one since I was in middle school now that I have gotten older it seems to be a tough decision now. I have done a lot more research on my job since middle school and I don’t really know if that’s something I’m up for now. I did decide on choosing this career because my father joined the army so I thought that I should at least join one branch of the armed services. So I decided on the coast guard because my dad agreed on me joining the coast guard. Out …show more content…
It was only a thought that was made into a goal of joining the coast guard and that’s just what I have had my mind on ever since. My grades in school only have to get me to pass and get me a high school diploma in order to join the coast guard. I hope to learn a lot from the coast guard and that they can teach me how to be a better man. My next step after high school would be to find a recruiter so I am able t o join the coast guard successfully. From there I would just join the coast guard and go through boot camp and learn how to hopefully become a rescue swimmer. If I do not become a rescue swimmer I would try to be a boatswain and they patrol the coastal areas for drug trafficking and pirates. That would be my only plan if I do not become a rescue swimmer because that would be something else I would like to do. I do not have a backup plan because I do not plan to fail boot camp but if I do I will just have to find a job and go through a learning process to learn how to do it. Being in the coast guard has just been my goal forever and I haven’t given much thought to a backup plan. I guess my backup plan would be to try and find a good paying job that can support

My decision to join the military in general I believe subconsciously started when my older brother returned from Army basic training. While my brother was a pretty smart guy he had never really been to apply himself nor did he have the drive to, but whatever had happened to him during army basic training had made a change in him; a change for the best. He came back and the transformation was evident in every single one of his actions and thoughts. He had a drive to accomplish all of his goals dreams and aspiration, not only that he had the discipline necessary to stay on his new found path. I went on to college in the fall fallowing his return from basic training not sure if these new traits and strength I saw in him would continue or disappear. When I returned home that fall after my first semester and talked to him and I saw the changes had stayed with him and grown even further. With all that he had used the tools he had been given to accomplish so much in already so little of time. All that stayed in my head, but it did not become relevant to me until my sophomore year of college. I realized that while I was…

First off my main goal is to go to a good college. I really want to come out of high school with a high grades. I know with high grades I’m going to have a lot of options for schools. I would try to go to a maritime school or university to get a bachelors degree in computers or an associates in art. I don’t know which I want to go for first, I’ll decide later. I’d choose those areas because art is something that I’ll always enjoy. It’s one of those things where it’s all about you and what you want done, its fun and you have something to show for after. It’s like writing in the ways of getting feelings down to remember but in a visual form. I choose computers because not only does math come easy but it’s also an important branch. Think about how often everybody uses computers and how fast technology improves. Then I choose to become a seaman , seafaring is for the intelligent, the resilient, the disciplined, and the brave because these are the type of young people who can better prepare themselves for the hard life of seafarers. All of these will leave a lot of options for jobs and all in categories I love, but I only have to choose one then finally I decided to choose to go to a maritime school, because I want to become an officer in the ship someday and to earn money and my dream is to travel around the world. I have always been curious about other cultures and the differences between people in other countries. It would be amazing to travel the whole world.…
