College Admission Essay To Study
Having attended Title One schools from the time I was in Pre-K in one of the poorest cities in the nation, it was no wonder that I wanted to explore and experience other cities and schools. Being from the lowest part of the city, it was difficult to gain respect from others. Nobody ever believed a student from my high school would get into any high ranking university in Texas. I wanted to try my hardest academically so I could get into the school of my dreams. No matter what my past consisted of or where I came from, I was determined to make my hard work pay off. One day while eating at a local café, I realized where I was and noticed that I was surrounded by the Mexican culture. From Mexican cuisine to Mexican music, I was completely submerged in a cultural bubble; one that I was comfortable with. I decided that I would always have my culture, and studying in an environment that was the opposite, would be the best thing for me to branch out and explore. No matter how hard I tried, I did not have anybody to look up to. I never knew of anybody in my family that had a Bachelor’s degree and even though I knew I wanted to attend college, I needed a role model. It was not until my mother began to attend the University of Texas at Brownsville that I began to have some inspiration. My …show more content…
At this point in my life, I am the most motivated I have ever been. Even though my life as a child consisted of hardships and challenges, it is what made me determined to be successful. The strength of mind I have to reach my goal of becoming an Obstetrician/Gynecologist will be exhibited through my hard work during my undergraduate studies. The past can sometimes be dark and scary, even intimidating to uncover, but it can be just what you need to be prosperous in life. As Rick Warren once said, “We are products of our past, but we don't have to be prisoners of

My motivation has and shall always be my family. I push myself forward in life to be able to give back to my parents and my community. The only other person in my family that has completed college is my mother. I am a graduate from Glen Oaks Community College and I would love to continue my education with Glen Oaks and their Nursing Program. I am a very athletic person, therefore in my free time my activities include running, playing sports, coaching and being involved with my family. Working two jobs, one being a Nursing Assistant and Unit Technician at The Community Health Center of Branch County and the other doing in home care for an elderly patient, does make it difficult to find free time. With what little free time I do have I enjoy spending it with my family as they are very important to me. I try to make it a routine to visit with my grandmas to have lunch with them and to drive them around where ever is needed due to the fact that they both cannot drive. I am currently training to run a marathon in May. During softball season, I volunteer with the coaching staff at the Coldwater High School. My greatest satisfaction so far in life, is the fact that I am one of few to have graduated from a college with a degree within my family. I am proud to say that I have paid for me education with my hard work. I hope with the help of Glen Oaks Community College I can obtain a new satisfaction of becoming a nurse. It would be my dream come true.…

Fortunately, by the fifth grade my parents were able to rent an apartment nearby our school and had found jobs in multiple Brownsville restaurants. After the move, things became much easier and we were able to have a much simpler life, though we were never able to forget the hardships we experienced and the effort we put into enhancing our lives. Today, I am sure my successes as of now are gratifying my parents as I am in the top 10% of my class, the Co-Captain of the Golden Stars Dance Team, member of the National Honor Society, Piano Club, HOSA, and in TRIO UTRGV talent search program. I attend rigorous AP classes to improve my opportunity to attend a university and have the finest future I can give myself. Although my triumphs may not look like much to most, I can assertively say that the trial of going through difficulty to have a superior future has been overcome with the comfort of focus, strength, and the right set of mind to build a better tomorrow for my family and…

A college degree can also get me educated and prepared for the career path I will choose in the future. Even though my family isn’t rich, I can afford college by applying for financial aid…

My most prized possession is my mental stability and ethical background that I have acquired from my southern upbringing. Growing up in a rural community in the south and being reared by elderly parents allowed my seeds of character and respect to be nurtured by an entire village of people who saw my potential and wanted to see me succeed and thus pushed and prayed for my wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. As a child, series of unique experiences of being able to develop intimate and loving relationships with almost everyone in my community made me appreciate the influence of everyone on my life. It was not long before I realized that no matter how old or young, rich or poor, or educated a person was, everyone contributed to humanity’s niche…
