College Admissions Essay: My Life After High School
As I started freshman year I didn’t really think about what would happen after high school. As I grew older and wiser I started realizing what I wanted for myself. The thought of attending college was just as mirror vision because I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life after high school for the longest time. Researching and gaining more knowledge of universities I came upon Texas Tech University and decided to take a tour. Little did I know that Texas Tech would open so many doors for me and would soon be my future home. Texas Tech is a prestigious university which will help me further my career goal of achieving a marketing degree in the near future. Growing in the small town of Stratford has been one of the biggest influences that has made me the person I am today. I moved to this town at the age of three. This has easily been one of the greatest decisions that my parents have ever made. The community in which I live in is so outstanding. No matter what I know that whatever decision I make I will have their support. My parents are another tremendous influence on me. Their genuine caring heart, strong worth ethic, and their humility is like no other. I know that if I fall seven times they will pick me up eight. …show more content…
My three options were Texas Tech University, Tarleton State University and West Texas A&M. These three school are great schools, but in the back of my mind I knew that I wanted to attend Texas Tech. My parents do not want me to go to Texas Tech just because they want me to be closer to home, but that is the opposite of what I want for my life after high school. I want to get as far away as possible to have somewhat of a fresh start. I believe that having a fresh start will build me up as a person in life. Not very many people from Stratford attend Texas Tech, so that is also one of the huge reasons why I have decided to go

I had to dig deep for this! Dig deep to figure out what big problems I faced throughout these past years. It wasn't easy for me because I faced many difficulties throughout my life. Then I remember a time in my first 2 years of high school. I was oblivious. Confuse about my future. Whether I wanted to do something after high school. I have to admit school wasn't my priority in freshman year. I wouldn't get the best grade, but they weren't the worst either. All I cared about is having friends. Then something hit me. Seeing all these seniors not graduate on time. Seeing many kids struggle financially after high school. I eventually notice that those who go to college succeed more. Especially being a minority it's extremely difficult to succeed…

The reason my academics aren’t going well as you or I would like is because of the several family issues I’ve had to face during my high school career. It began my Sophomore year, I found out my mom needed surgery in her arm so the chances of her cancer spreading would be reduced. I was under a great deal of stress worrying about my mother, taking care of my four siblings making sure they knew everything was going to be okay, even though I wasn’t sure myself. It was all up to me; while my other brother worked to help with bills, my mom being in the hospital, and my dad working. Taking care of my siblings consisted of cooking, homework, cleaning, nightly routine, and putting them to bed. When the work was done it would be around 10 o'clock. It was already tough to buckle down and focus on homework without all the stress. With all this my first semester grade was less than great.…

Outside of my professional interests, I pride myself on being a compassionate young man; therefore, by finding a career in my field of choice, I hope to be able to innovate ways to provide a stable house and home for those who cannot provide it for themselves.…

I always strived to do the best that I can, in everything that I do, and this especially applies to academics. In 6th grade, I joined the honors program at my middle school; from then on forward, I made sure than my work was of high enough quality so that the following year I would be placed in honors courses. These courses are what I believe prepared me for my success in high school. I got a taste of what it was like to be in an environment where every pupil was hungry for an education and for knowledge, and I grew to want to learn as much as my classmates. I entered high school with courses that upperclassmen had that challenged me more than anything else had before. It was during my freshman year of high school that I realized that I couldn’t…

From a young age we’re asked what we want to be when we grow up, never how we expect to become when we grow up. I was well aware of what I wanted to become, but not sure how to get there until I started high school when my counselor explained to me the importance of having a full portfolio with a wide range of extracurricular activities. Then it became clear to me, I needed extracurricular activities to become who I wished to be. Throughout my high school career I’ve participated in several extracurricular actives such as math club, soccer and UIL One Act. In the future, I want to participate in these activities or anything similar to those I participated in high school.…

Lately, I find myself thinking about college and life after college more and more as I grow older. Because of this I realized that to achieve my various goals I need to set a pathway that will help me reach them. I am a rising 9th grader and I get asked those certain questions almost every day, things like “what classes are you taking in high school?” or “what do you want to be when you grow up?” or even the “what college do you want to go to?”. These questions have really made me think about life and what I want to do and I only have one answer, I'm not sure. For this reason I was very excited about the prospect of using CFNC to try and form an idea about my future. In the basic skills survey my highest skill was identified…

Ever since I can remember I have been fascinated with acting. I loved being on stage, developing my own character, and working hard learning hundreds upon hundreds of lines. Once I had the opportunity to use my skills in high school I jumped on the chance to do it. I auditioned and rehearsed five days a week from 3pm to 7pm, all while juggling AP classes and keeping my grades up to honors. It may have been hard, and still is but I do it because I adore it and in the end all the hours I spent on it is worth it. After I am done with all of my shows I always become very sick, because in the weeks before the opening night I put all of my energy into the shows that I begin to compromise my own health.…

I was raised with the beliefs that there is an importance of having security in all aspects of life, whether that is financial, physical, or emotional. These were, and still are, the ultimate objectives I have for myself and every action I take and have taken has been formed around this sentiment. My parents taught me that “dreams are the touchstones of our character” and that it is important to dream big while remaining clear on goals and realistic with decisions. On the path to deciding my future, their advice remains with me and assists in establishing myself in the goals that I have set.…

    My Dream of College

I feel like I have a different opinion of college than everyone else. For the most part, I am not excited to go away to college at all. I wish I could stay in high school forever because I enjoy it so much. My friends are the greatest and I don’t want to make new ones because some of my best friends I’ve known since first grade, and some others I’ve made throughout my four years at Andrean. But most importantly, I want to stay near my family (besides every teenager’s dream of getting away from his or her parents, which I have). However, I’m very close with many of my other family members that I would extremely miss like my cousins and my grandparents. I am also different in the essence that I do not believe that there is only one perfect college for someone and that “he or she will just know that the college is the one for them.” Personally, I just don’t believe that’s true after visiting many colleges. Although there;s some that I haven’t liked, there have been many that I have. I think the dream college, at least for me, is determined by location, cost, and whether you have friends accompanying you there. I do not believe that one college will offer you a better life experience than another one based on other factors besides the ones I just listed. An example I can give of this is Purdue and IU. Although very different, I can find myself being equally happy at either one. This makes the decision of choosing between these two colleges very difficult for me. But if I had to choose a dream college, it would come down between Butler and IU Bloomington. My final decision would be Butler. I’m ignoring the…
