Personal Essay: Pursuing A Career In High School

Ever since I can remember I have been fascinated with acting. I loved being on stage, developing my own character, and working hard learning hundreds upon hundreds of lines. Once I had the opportunity to use my skills in high school I jumped on the chance to do it. I auditioned and rehearsed five days a week from 3pm to 7pm, all while juggling AP classes and keeping my grades up to honors. It may have been hard, and still is but I do it because I adore it and in the end all the hours I spent on it is worth it. After I am done with all of my shows I always become very sick, because in the weeks before the opening night I put all of my energy into the shows that I begin to compromise my own health. Being part of the play has taught me many
things, it has taught me to work hard to eliminate procrastination, and to put all of your energy into everything you do. If you are acting on stage with little energy, the audience will feel it, and your fellow actors will begin to struggle to add more energy to the show. If you put off learning your lines, you will be rehearsing with your script in your hand and will focus more on lines than actual character and thats takes away from your acting ability. All of theses things ca be applied to real life, especially academically.
